For those that new him, heard this morning that mark smith from Brimington has died
Mark was a season ticket holder and went to a lot of away games too.
He was also heavily involved in grassroots football and ran spire rangers u16 all the way from u6 age group.
He was also a qualified ref and reffed a lot of kids and adult games and was an all round great bloke.

From Hollingwood originally, known him best part of 40 years right through school, local football, drinking in The Hollingwood and following town up and down the country.
A devoted family man with two secondary school age kids too
Am sure he was in town books as a youngster too, decent CH I the Sean Dyche mould, around the time Jamie Bettney broke through and made his debut (they went to school together at Westwood).
Taken far too soon, RIP Mark

He was, 1992-93 and 1993-94 having been with Somersall Rangers along with James Bettney. Played for the reserves in what was Kevin Davies' first CFC appearance. RIP.

I don't think I know him, but I'm still saddened to here of losing another Spireite. RIP Mark and I feel for his family and friends. Losing someone is always a massive blow, but at this time of the year, it's even worse. I lost my mum 24 years ago at Christmas so my thoughts are with his family. Far too young to be taken from those who loved and relied upon him.

I should know this guy and our paths must have crossed.
I grew up with Betney, and we played on the upper school for many years. Jamie was a bit younger than us and took some hard knocks.
Either way, a tragic loss at such a young age.
