Wimbledon looked every bit like Bromley and it wasn't just their kit

Very astute comparison.

Never said it was you. There was one particular nasty thread headlining Bread*' and possibly Cum*(?) but a good few other walk on parts. Just pointing out how quickly things change.

Just home.

Fantastic result. Guts, determination and resolve. Grimes was
Mom for me.

For all those games at home where we deserved more today was pay back.

Curry, red wine, boxing and oh yes 200 quid on footy accas. Merry Christmas all

Don't think there is any doubt about that and I'd be surprised if Grigg plays. If that is the case, plus a little bit of rotation it could be a tricky selection to guess.

I'll go for one guess, Jessop to be added to the squad

Okay, my take.

Started on fire. Taking it to the visitors with some terrific football. The ball from Banks to Markanday was exquisite. As was his control. As was the ball to Dobra. As was the finish.

But losing a Colclough who'd been turning them inside out was a blow.

Gonna say it; I like Berry. The lad has bags of talent when on the front foot and direct. Yet has games when he's always on the back foot almost looking for instruction. Today was one of those.

Either way man of the first half Banks. His 'quarter back' role dictating the match. Alongside a Naylor whose experience snuffed out so many of their direct attacks by simply reading them.

Second half scruffy. Fifty-fifty. They got it down and looked for gaps instead of going old school Wimbledon.

Gotta love Grimes. Everywhere. And Mandeville. Lesson to Berry - your forward talent and their work rate would equal a five million worth player.

Not to detract from Dobra. Or a Markanday who I'm told loves CFC and really wants to stay but is in the hands of a Blackburn who want him at a higher level to increase his sale value.

Sh*t, in't it.

Cook has to manage his depleted squad. That effected our performance. Though each and every one who pulled on a shirt contributed to a hard won three points.

I'm seriously lovin' Tairn these days. Fifth against all odds. Cook, his management, the walking wounded of a squad and, most of all, the Kirk's take a huge, huge bow.

Y'know what?

We really can do it again in the new year...
Never underestimate the stupidity of people

We were saying the same thing. And to be fair to him, why put yourself at risk of messing it up.

I didn?t want this to be the case but it feels like the Januarys transfer window is a very key period for the club. I?ve got my fingers crossed

If that?s the case, re his attitude, and I?m not sure it is, then let him go.
Personally I?d take ?750k for him now.

I?m over for Christmas, so today was my first home game of the season, after watching most of the previous matches on the live stream. I thought that for the first 25-30 mins, I thought we were brilliant. Banks was pulling the strings and spreading the ball out wide, where both Coco and Markanday looked really dangerous. We scored a great goal from Dobs and could easily have added at least one more goal in that spell. After this, Wimbledon started to come back into the game as they crowded the midfield, without really looking threatening at all. We looked very strong defensively but didn?t offer much threat going forward either, as they pressed higher up the pitch and didn?t allow our creative players any time at all on the ball. This led to the game becoming a bit of a scrappy affair, with lots of long balls being played, which often just ran out of play or through to the defence, due to the wind.

While we defended brilliantly and the work rate of the players )except for Berry - more on him later) can?t be questioned, I didn?t think we played well, but we did enough to win as we kept them at arms length, apart from the fantastic save from Thompson in the last minute. The wind was very strong and made conditions difficult for quality football, but it didn?t half frustrate me how many times we played the long ball, rather than keeping the ball down and playing to feet. We?ve got players who are capable of hurting teams with the ball, so I didn?t understand why we didn?t keep it down more.

As for Berry, my 13 year old daughter said to me after about 75 mins ?they should take the guy with the orange boots off (Berry) as he?s been rubbish.?. I told her that he?s very talented and normally a threat, but he certainly didn?t have one of his best days today. We can give him the benefit of the doubt though as they were quite strong defensively too and their full backs got very tight to our wingers and didn?t give them much space. Berry just didn?t look like he fancied his chances against their right back after a couple of attempts without success.

All in all, I think we just about deserved the win as we did create more than they did and we were fantastic for the first 25 mins or so. I thought they looked like a very difficult side to play against, big, strong and organised, but they didn?t offer any kind of goal threat and I never felt like we were hanging on at all. We?ve certainly played much better than that at home this season and not won, so it?s about time our luck changed and it makes us very well placed for a promotion push.

Looking forward to the game against MK Dons now and hoping for a better game of football and another 3 points. COYB!!!

Anybody got any thoughts on the ref today?

I thought he let far too many fouls go unpunished early on leading them to think it was ok to keep on fouling in the knowledge that they would very likely not receive a yellow card. Whilst he did not miss much in terms of awarding free-kicks had he chosen to brandish a card early on he would not have had as many free-kicks to award later.

Random thoughts.

A brilliant win.

In truth today has gone some way to recover points lost in that run of home draws. We rode our luck and, on another day, could have very easily lost by one or two goals.

On performances.

The back line did ever so well. Thompson's save was outstanding. The back 4 plus Horton worked very hard and put in a massive shift. Their CF has scored a hatful and looked dangerous. They managed him well. They also pushed forward in numbers and had considerable physicality in their side. A really good shift from the back line.

Mandeville. Superb again. His effort, tenacity and footballing ability were superb. Markanday. Superb. To think that he's on loan is remarkable. Another superb showing.

Grigg did what he does. Minimal service; being bullied throughout. He didn't complain and also put in a shift.

Dobra was a class apart. Effort and ability. Outstanding. MOTM for me against tough competition from the back line and Mandy.

Oldaker struggled. His control and passing was back to his bad old days. Shame, cos he's had some good periods this season. He should be a way below Mandy now.

Berry. Not an acceptable spell at all. I've been a big fan of his but that's not good enough. If the rest of our side had shown his lack of effort we'd have been hammered by Wimbledon today. The contrast was Berry v Dobra and Berry v Mankanday today. He needs to sort himself out or ship off somewhere else

All that said, it was a really good result with a very thin squad.

COYB

It?s beginning to look like a Pile On as regards Berry. I am sure Paul Cook is all over any issue.

I?m not seeing any pile on, just folk offering opinions. There is no doubting Berry is a decent player. He?s skilful and an exciting player but he does drift in and out of games.

He?s made great strides since he first arrived where he looked totally lost. I put his improvement down to the coaching he?s getting here so as far as I?m concerned, he will improve even more. But it?s not a pile on, it?s just people observing the game.

No one hates him, everyone will support him and encourage him.
