Per this site, Markandays salary is 280k pa - pinch of salt and all that, but Blackburn?s players wages bill is over 12M - divide that by say 30 and its one lot of money average per man.
https://salarysport....ilan-markanday/

?280k Pa so ?5.4k a week.

How much are the likes of Grigg, Naylor, Madden, Dunkley etc on? ?3-4k depending on which one we are talking about.

If we could offer Markanday a long deal on ?4k a week I reckon he?d consider it. Probably more a case of what level he wants to play at - it isn?t that long since he was going to be the next big thing at Spurs.

I agree i don't expect Berry busting a gut to track back but what a talent he is when he gets the ball. His goals and weight of pass are a pleasure to watch. When i saw him play for Macc i thought he would go on to be a star and i still do.

Yes, he's got loads of talent and he will go onto bigger and better things. He will be a top end championship player at the very least, but Cook can make him a better player,if he sticks around. I can't see him wanting to be a bench warmer on top money so he needs to choose his next move wisely. Yes it's a short career, but it can also drag if you aren't playing.
I do hope he stays another season, because then he will be worth good money.

Hear what you say.

But, at what point in time does his transfer value start decreasing as he eats into the final year of his contract bearing in mind that becomes zero when it ends?

Just watching highlights.
3 great goals.
That dummy of Markanday's that put Garragher in the car park shows the level he can achieve. Blackburn have a very tough decision to make, with a lot of money at stake.

Not a lot of money at the level they operate.

Their manager sounds a boring old ***.

If not for that reason alone, I'm glad he's not our man!

Let's not forget that bar a rogue appearance for Hull City in 2019-20 this is his first season playing in the Football League where the pace is a little faster and the tactics are probably a bit more in depth

Also is it a mentally thing? Whilst we're just outside the playoffs, in comparison to his last few seasons this could be considered more of a struggling team, I believe he's been involved in 3 promotions in a row where the majority of fans and probably team mates have been brimming with confidence and happy.

We've seen the tsunami of emotions on here over the past couple of months with a couple of poor results and performances, if the dressing room is anything like that then it's not something he's likely have experienced before or certainly not for a few years

If he thinks it's all going to be plain sailing, then he's a very delusional character, but I don't have him down as a person of that disposition.
Even at 24 years old,he's not the finished article, but for me,he's starting to try different things to create for himself, which is a sign of a maturing player. If I was to compare him with any other player, I'd say Chris Waddle, but he has a way to go yet to emulate him.
Some of the posts on here, mate are a bit over the top, I will agree with that. With talk of relegation,or bringing in players who have failed,it really does bemuse me. We have great times ahead, what's not to like?

This is a fine line, which, I'm glad I don't have to sort out. Do we offer another contract,or have we the option for another year, I don't know, but it's probably going to come to a head in the next few weeks.

That's a real good point you make in the last paragraph.Thought provoking.

Who would you want in the next round? Options being:

Bradford
Rotherham
Wrexham
Bolton
Lincoln
Port Vale
Blackpool/Villa

Can't be doing with Wrexham. Would take any of the rest but would rather not play Lincoln again and I think Bradford might take it more seriously

Blackpool or Rotherham at home. None of these away. Think Wrexham will make the final so avoid at all costs and hope we stay clear of them

Can two Northern teams be in the final? Does the regionalisation carry all the way through?

Quick google suggests this :-

Quote

COMPETITION FORMAT
The two top from each group progress to the knockout stages, with Bristol Street Motors Trophy fixtures remaining regionalised until the Quarter-Final stage.

Until to the Semi-Finals, no extra time shall be played. The winners shall be determined by penalty kicks.

Extra time will apply only in the Final if the result is level after ninety minutes? duration. A period of 30 minutes will be played. If still equal the winner is then decided by penalties.
