He scored the penalty on 78 mins. The pass he made for Colclough to earn the penalty was fantastic. But I stand by my comment that at the time I posted it, he was hardly involved in the game.

He finished well and got more involved after he scored.

I've got a feeling that Flash won't get much help from James Berry while he's defending, although now and again he does launch himself into a tackle. It's what you get from some flair players, but the pass to Colclough, which lead up to the penalty was top drawer, and the only other player who could execute that pass is Ollie Banks. We've seen them down the ages,Tony Currie,Alan Hudson, and Glen Hoddle, none of them moved much, but give them the ball, and it's different, plus James Berry has some pace about him. Oh,and happy birthday to him for yesterday too.

It was one of those performances where it seemed everyone clicked - bar a couple of minor blips.
An overall great team performance

Yes,I agree with you. Horton looked a bit rusty for the first twenty minutes, but then played well, and on the other side I think Jessop had a fair game too. Even Cook had a decent go when he came on and chased for everything.

Entertaining game plenty of positives and a good team fielded by cook, it?s always good to win and this comp keeps players playing

the competition has done us good too, since the dissapointment of the accrington game we've gone on to win our next 4 home games bagging 10 goals in the process, not entirely sure why there is quite such a dramatic drop off in attendances for these games.

I agree i don't expect Berry busting a gut to track back but what a talent he is when he gets the ball. His goals and weight of pass are a pleasure to watch. When i saw him play for Macc i thought he would go on to be a star and i still do.

Only caught the last 25 mins or so last night but lovely pass by Berry for the penalty, not many quick/tricky/dribbly wide men have that in their locker. I can see us ending up in the final for this cup.

One thing berry does need to learn is to press as a unit, there was an instance last night when I think grigg and mark Andy pressed, forcing the ball wide but berry was too far away putting no pressure on the fullback he needed to 5 yards nearer, I?d rather he worked correctly in advanced areas than track back

It was a decent enough performance. I enjoyed the game.

Terrible interview, hardly looked the interviewer in the eye once. A quick read of the Wigan forum shows they?re unhappy with him

Plus his wages for another three years - anything upward of ?450k over three years. No chance he will come here permanently.

Per this site, Markandays salary is 280k pa - pinch of salt and all that, but Blackburn?s players wages bill is over 12M - divide that by say 30 and its one lot of money average per man.

Need to be careful guys, yeah he didnt track back well on Saturday but lets not make it a witch hunt, these things quickly get out of hand.

He has a load of goals and assists, i'd take that over running about like a loon

Absolutely I think everyone realise he has talent in spades, I just think he is a slow burner, probably never had to do the hard stuff in past teams, he will imo go backwards if he leaves us, 2 more seasons refining his overall game

The reality is that if his contract is allowed to run down he will be able to leave for nothing. He is now 24, our leading scorer in all competitions, with a number of assists as well. If he is being sought after and a club is prepared to pay daft money or our asking price then he will be allowed to leave with our blessings and thanks.

Then, if the ultimate fee we receive is high enough some of it can be used to strengthen the squad in January and in the summer.

If the over all result of any transaction leads to us having a team capable of winning promotion and competing in L1 it will be a win win scenario.

That was my point about the calling out at the Tranmere game. Folk were telling him where to stand, when to track back, which clearly got into his head judging by his answering back. We have enough FA Badged coaches on the books, plus video and running stats to give him all the feedback he needs.

That would seem a reasonable estimate. That said, as it stands it will be ?0 in the summer.

Sometimes both Berry and Colclough are instructed NOT to track back by Cook in tactical jousting. Cook is a master of it. Opponents leaving their right side open do so at great risk. I think it's safe to argue that players not following Cook's instructions don't last long.

I watched Berry very closely last night. I think that he himself considers that he's starved of the ball and, in particular, openings that he senses aren't spotted by team mates. At the moment he's going through a phase of airing his frustration.

Like you posted on Saturday, I dont think it helped that Coco started and his had best game for a long time v Tranmere.

Just watching highlights.
3 great goals.
That dummy of Markanday's that put Garragher in the car park shows the level he can achieve. Blackburn have a very tough decision to make, with a lot of money at stake.
