Berry annoyed me yesterday. Was lazy in tracking back and defending. Someone lower in the East Stand obviously commented the same and he fronted up. Next he attempted a shot outside the area?trying too hard. Then after laying off the ball made a bit of a thing about it.

Arrogance it came across. Don?t get giddy duck.

Berry reminds me of players like Matt Le Tissier and Glenn Hoddle who could look lazy and anonymous in games and then produce a bit of brilliance to score or create a goal and long may that continue.

They can, that?s why they didn?t let him play in our FA Cup games in case they brought him back, or moved him on elsewhere

Oh yeah, they can bring him back IN January, but not before as the post I replied to said

He is unfortunately not at that level yet but used the names of players people would know for my argument of players could seem lazy but then produce a bit of skill to create a goal or scoring opportunity like he did playing in Drummond

I like Berry, he has got real potential and is a huge threat off the bench.

However - I agree with others that it does seem to have gone to his head a bit, perhaps he?s read the article linking him to a ?5M move in Jan?

I am not sure we can say that the transfer talk has gone to his head - but perhaps he is the first to break rank and show dissatisfaction with being on the bench rather than starting. He certainly seemed to be in a strop - not helped by clearly heard abuse he was getting.

What you have described re Berry is bang on. I also think he gets lost sometimes in games with regards to his positioning it seems he doesn't know where on the pitch he should be. Having said that it's being coached out of him as there has been obvious improvements since his arrival. I think he likes to play with a bit of freedom which he doesn't get all the time here and he's still learning to play his role.

He also needs to learn not to listen to armchair manager in the crowd and take what they say to heart.

For me, Berry isn't a 90 minute player in our league, so he certainly won't be able to do it in the one above or the championship. He will be though, but I still think he needs, a the least, another year with us. ?5m would be very good business for us, but for James Berry it would mean tetanus jabs for all the splinters he'd acquire sat on the bench week after week.

It's perhaps a subliminal reaction to Ryan Colclough having such a great game. He needs some TLC. That pass to Drummond was Whitaker class. Perfect pace, perfect place.

Thats a decision many footballers have to make during their careeer, minutes on the pitch or a bigger bank balance.

The only 'abuse' I heard was "B****Y run Berry" and he deserved it. I can't see any excuse for what appeared to be a poor attitude. Compare the effort and closing down Markandy was doing on the other wing. The game is as much about without the ball as with it, and until he learns that he will remain half the player Markandy is.

"Whitaker class". I like that, you are 100% correct, a great way to describe it.

He's had a stinking attitude several times this season, Derby away being another.

Sorry, but that has to be a massive exaggeration. Cook wouldn't tolerate it.

Markanday is by and far our best at winning turnovers.

Just my opinion based on his body language, throwing his arms up in the air frequently, all whilst having a poor game, there?s been a couple of others but I couldnt say against which teams because my memory resembles a sieve. Good player but a mardy boy imo.

Are we not over analysing this?

Berry is not the finished article and I am pretty sure he himself would acknowledge that. He has attributes no other player in our squad has whilst other players in our squad have attributes he does not possess either. That is what makes a successful team and squad. It is possible to make changes by adding or taking away those different attributes according to what the manager thinks is required.

On Saturday, there was absolutely no need for the verbal abuse he suffered from the East Stand. He came on listening to the Colclough song and not being welcomed by his song like the welcome Joe Quigley used to get. In fact, has James Berry got his own song?

He also came on to give us something different and to try and give us that 3rd goal which sealed the game. He provided that with a very good pass to his mate and we all came away happy.

I do not think he will ever be a grafter as such but he will more likely be a more silky player. One who will both excite and frustrate but one who will be effective when and where it matters - at that end of the pitch that we are attacking.

It is time to get behind the lad and lift him not to berate and knock him down. As fans that is what we should be doing with all our players.

Markanday is a coach?s dream in the modern game - pressing machine. As boot says, contrast against Berry, it?s night and day. Anyway I?m aware this is probably sounding like I?ve got a vendetta against Berry, deffo not the case, he?s one of the best finishers at the club and can create something from nothing, once he ups his work rate and stop throwing the occasional wobbler then nowt?ll stop him.

Berry is an impact sub. He has a lot to learn before he becomes an established starter. I would start Coco or Dobs ahead of Berry on the left wing.
