Me too. 1) The transfer fee would be out of our reach 2) His wages would be very high 3) Would he even want to stay im guessing not i think he would want a higher level of football.

Going up a league doesn't mean game time and he wouldn't have come on loan to us if he was happy to bench warm. He'll be effective with the right club, the right manager and the right style of play. I'm not saying he'll stay here, but his next move has to be the right one, so he'll think long and hard with the help of his agent over the festive season. Could there be milage in the rumour of Berry going to Blackburn and Markanday staying here permanently. There are so many rumours flying about at the moment that my head hurts trying to decipher the rubbish from the utter rubbish.

I think if you read the whole post, I did say I thought that all the rumours circulating are just rubbish. I rate Berry highly and I will say that he will go for record money, if he stays for at least another year, and keeps processing like he is.

Just got round to listening to the excellent Ash Kirk inteview on Spotify, Weekend Warm Up, and I think by now they will have had the squad planning meeting. The transfer Window is a lottery with so many 'what if's' and last minute contingency lists, but my guess is that we'll get 2 new players.

I think you might be right although, as you say, the January window tends to be something of a free for all and an agent's goldmine.

Why? Markanday is the better player right now. If Berry's potential attracts interest from Blackburn it would be very smart to make some sort of arrangement.

I?d go with Berry sale to Blackburn for good fee and sell on and both Berry and Markandy loaned back for the rest of this season

We will sell him, and anyone else for that matter, if the price is right. If doing so with Blackburn allowed us to bring Markanday in at the same time it would be as good an arrangement as we could get. That's supposing he'd want to come permanently of course. He's clearly good enough for the division above.

We can't be the only club who wanted Markanday on loan,so there must be a reason for him picking us. It could be as simple as we were the highest bidder, but it could also be down to Paul Cook and his vision for Chesterfield FC.

He said in an interview not long ago he picked us over a league one club because he wanted to be playing regular football and thought he had a better chance of doing that with us plus he liked what he heard from Cook and co.

That was then. He has proved himself well worthy of a start in the league above and even the one above that. I am sure a club like Preston wouldnt turn their nose up on the chance to recruit him.

I thought that teams couldn't add or remove players to squads (unless spaces were available), at any other time than during transfer windows, so how we added hobson.
all we are saying, is give us ...a goal, or 2+

He?s here until the end of this season, unless Blackburn recall him. It costs them if they recall him before January. Like it did with us bringing Bailey back.

Berry annoyed me yesterday. Was lazy in tracking back and defending. Someone lower in the East Stand obviously commented the same and he fronted up. Next he attempted a shot outside the area?trying too hard. Then after laying off the ball made a bit of a thing about it.

Arrogance it came across. Don?t get giddy duck.

The lad has massive potential, but so do a lot of folks. He?s 24 this week so not a youngest in footballing terms. I would agree with the comments about laziness - if he can cut this out, improve his match fitness he could play at a higher level.

I doubt they can, and possibly pointless anyway unless they have spare space in the squad

They can, that?s why they didn?t let him play in our FA Cup games in case they brought him back, or moved him on elsewhere
