Ipswich reveal captain Sam Morsy chose not to wear rainbow armband https://www.theguard...P=share_btn_url
Of course, he has a right not to do it - but then people also have a right to criticise his decision. Especially given the hypocrisy of happily sporting betting advertisements as many have pointed out.

I'll get this in early: "not news", "who cares, it's his choice", "keep politics out of sports, what happened to just playing t'game" and probably all sorts of bottom licking since he's a much loved ex-spireite - imo it's still disappointing

Though strongly disagreeing we must respect their right to choose.
What's most important is Chesterfield FC are a progressive club promoting and celebrating links with the LGBTQ community.
Long may that continue and be reflected on these pages...

He could never play here again with such a show of homophobia, how would that sit with rainbow Spireites 🌈

Can?t say I?m too bothered but obviously he?s a big ol? hypocrite, like most imaginary friend-havers. Can?t support the gays but fine promoting gambling and having a child out of wedlock (according to the Reddit thread) 🤷🏼♂️ can?t pick and choose what you support if you?re meant to be afraid of eternal damnation, Samy.
Hopefully Samy wouldn?t get too angry if somebody was to draw a picture of his Prophet - personal belief n all that.

So we must respect their right to be homophobic?
So does that apply to all phobias?

Disgusting views, but they have every right to hold them & of course I have every right to be disgusted by them & seek to protect those who are potential victims of their bigotry.

Ffs I can feel myself getting started. I really despise the constant contradictions of religion and how it?s a protected characteristic.

Are footballers refusing to wear rainbow armbands homophobic?
Are footballers refusing to take the knee racist?
Are footballers refusing to wear poppies treacherous?
And is someone sneeringly supporting an alleged sex offender a victim blaming misogynist?
You tell me...

That's about where I am. It's fairly tedious stuff all round.

As the father of a son who is gay I cannot get my head around people who think it's ok to be homophobic as long as it's part of their religion and we must somehow respect that.
