Funnily enough I was looking at Soccerbase and adding up poor Joe's goalless minutes this season just the other night.

He starts slowly and then goes into a full blown simmer, give him time. Joking apart, Joe worked his socks off playing a role he wasn't really suited for,but he gave it his best shot. He certainly gained us a few points with late winners.

He wasnt the greatest but his influence on last season shouldnt be underestimated especially at the start of the season where his goals gained us a number of points including game winners to get us up and running. He gave his all and in general the fans recognised that hence the reception he got most of the time and its Cook was very glowing in his praise of Quigley and what he did while playing under Cook. I think moving him on was the right idea although i still think that it was done with one eye on a replacement coming in that fell through and you wonder if they do slightly regret not having him til January as another option in games.

As for not getting a game...feature in 14 of their 16 games since he joined them including starting 5 games. He's one of the three main strikers they use and Cardwell that they signed around the same time from Southend has only played a few more and only got three goals in total so he's hardly firing either.

Why can't folk just celebrate a limited player who gave their all in a Tairn shirt?

Who became a cult hero as a result?

Good luck Joe - your goals helped us back to where we belong...

Paul Cook described him as one of the best players he has ever worked with. His loyalty to our club couldn't be underestimated and neither could his workrate. Was he a skillful centre forward scoring every game? No, he wasn't but his contribution to our promotion season was as good as any player we have.

He's a good lad, he works hard and deserves all the praise that's thrown at him. When people like you were criticising him he just put his head down and carried on working hard and reaped the benefits.

Come on Jon, you know the rules on here, don't let actual facts get in the way of someone making stuff up to suit their agenda against a former player!

Hear hear! Every single player operating at our level has 'limited' abilities, or they wouldn't be here. Joe performed superbly for us, and played a vital part in our runaway promotion season. If every one of our current players put in the levels of effort and enthusiasm we saw from Joe between now and the end of this season, we'll be promoted automatically. Good luck to him.

It is down to personal opinion on his 'level of abilities',but personally one thing I would never question was his effort and commitment when we needed it.

Personally I'd say we've probably missed him coming off the bench in some games, his energy and workrate could unsettle a tired defence, and create openings that weren't on before
all we are saying, is give us ...a goal, or 2+

My take

Not blessed with lots of talent but gave everything for the club every time he wore the shirt

PC got the best out of his limited ability

Give me JQ anytime over those lazy, gutless individuals that we got lumbered with in our seasons of demise when we lost our league status

Some of those made me physically sick with their lack of effort week in week out

I quite liked Joe, a good honest lad that did his best.

Hear hear.

Perseverance is one of his strenghts. I'm hoping he comes good again soon
