Hells Great Grandad these days mate lol. Funnily enough I had a black Crombie back when I was 16 purchased from Stone Dri on Burlington Street and I once met Frankie Frazer at a book signing.
Thanks mate for bringing back the memories. ;)

You had to have all the gear ,my crombie had a red type handkerchief

At my age I need to sit down and eat. I have emailed the club about your idea to see if they are on board with it.

Good idea. We only picked the tranny match 'cos it's the next home game and we can't see past the next pint pot. So unless anyone as any better ideas let's make it new years day v MKD, it also gives more time to spread the word and tackle the loft maybe.

I've emailed the club about it... might be short notice but first home match of winter seems a good choice. And if the club back it they can sneak in a cheeky push for scarf sales for those without old ones to show off. Seems to me to be a better (more likely to be adopted by match-goers) idea than the Santa hat day they've pushed in recent years on a festive fixture.

was exactly my thinking. Newcastle up my way have done it several times and looks really good if it's a success. Do think if the club publicise it, it could do well at one of the xmas fixtures!

I still have a Crombie mate, and wear it on occasion. It seems to turn my 5ft 8" into 6ft 4" every time I put it on.
My first Crombie, like yours, was bought at Stone Dri, but I doubt it would fit around my leg these days 😁. The 70s were great times, a pub on every corner and several more in-between. Town doing the usual one season good followed by two not so lol. Night in the Crazy Daisy, home on the milk train, get changed, have a wash, brush me teeth and off to work for 6am. I'd love to see me do that now mate, brushing my teeth is hard enough 😄😄

I remember those Warfey, mine was a plain undertakers black, but it looked great with either stay press or a pair of jeans.

I used to wear Trickers brogue shoes, as Doc Martins never got you beyond White's Bar or The Sun. I bought them with a share in a pools win at work or I wouldn't be able to afford them. Great shoes that lasted years, but with seggs on board to save on wear and tear, I was like Bambi going down to the toilets in the Blue Bell lol.

Ha! I had a blue and white silk one in the top pocket of mine held in place with a mother of pearl tie pin. I later bought an embroided patch from the wooden cabin at the top of the Saltergate kop that they used to sell programmes and bits and bobs from before it was used as a refreshments hut. The patch was the badge of the one of the spire with the ball through it. I always thought that was a great badge. I sewn the patch on the top pocket of my crombie and remember going with my cousin and his nephew to the greyhound racing at Wombwell ( Barnsley ) one Saturday night wearing it. There was a fair on in a field adjacent to the greyhound stadium that evening and like a pair of idiots my cousin and I thought it a good idea to leave the greyhound racing and walk across to the fair. Obviously the town badge on my crombie was clocked in no time at all and the pair of us had to leg it rather quickly with around half a dozen Tykes giving chase lol.

Haha I had seggs in the heels of my brogues too mate. I remember kicking the heels on every bit of concrete pavement I could find back then just to make them spark lol.
