A similar thing happened to us but at the old Plough Lane watching us v Wimbledon.
Our driver decided it would be a good idea to drop us off in central London for a couple of hours free time saying we would still have plenty of time to make the kick off in Wimbledon. Then the inevitable happened and we got caught up in traffic on our way to the game and we were passing Stamford Bridge at around 2.50pm when a group of Chelsea skinheads mistaken our coach decked out in blue and white to be a Cardiff City supporters coach who Chelsea were playing that day.
A hail of missiles were thrown, bricks, bottles, concrete, anything they could lay their hands on.

We arrived at Plough Lane 20 minutes or so after kick off just in time to see Gary Simpson score I think it was. If I remember correctly Alan Cork equalised for Wimbledon and it finished 1-1. I'm pretty sure John Turner made his debut in goal for us that day after signing for us from Torquay. I can remember it being pretty chilly on the drive back to town with the broken windows. I think that was a Bagshaws coach that day. Who would believe Bagshaws football coaches had air conditioning way back in 1980 even though it was due to the thoughtfulness of the Chelsea skinheads lol.

I thought we didn?t start using Bagshaws until later in the 80s?

Yes I think you're correct mate but this coach was hired from Bagshaws privately by a guy who worked in the same factory as me. He stuck a notice up on the works noticeboard and filled the coach in next to no time. I remember it being ridicously cheap as he didn't make a profit from it and he just covered the cost of the coach. I can't remember the exact cost but somewhere around £3 or £3.50 per person springs to mind.

Some great away days on Bagshaws with Dennis driving the bus in his wide brimmed hat. The classic was Bournemouth away when he?d modified the coach by taking out a cpl of seats and replacing them with a wooden kitchen table for the long journey!

Haha that sounds about right for a DB trip mate although I didn't know about that as I wasn't on that one. I remember one away trip though but can't remember where to and as we were travelling down the motorway a voice from the rear of the coach shouted out " Eff me! I've just lifted a bit of carpet and I can see the road passing beneath us through this effin hole in the floor! "
Like you say Merc there were some great away days with Dennis lol.

None taken Mark. I've travelled on coaches and trains run by the club and others well before I was old enough to. Modelled ourselves on SIFA and took it from there. Some different stop offs these days with a classy meal or tapas if you want an alternative to ale and burger/chips etc. Only good thing about the National League, apart from winning it, was discovering some gems like Canterbury, Winchester, Marlow, Wilmslow, Rickmansworth to name a few. 16 years running coaches at the end of this season, a labour of love but met so many good people who've become close friends along the way, cheers Paul.

That hat must have been very wide brimmed if you could drive a bus in it.

1986/87 season.

3 goals in last 9 minutes a great comeback. With a massive crowd of 1804. Glad I was one of the lucky few to witness it.

We've never had a 3-3 draw with Wigan, we've had plenty of 3-2's (both ways) and a 4-3 and a couple of 2-2's

That was the 4-3 win with Tony Reid scoring the 4th right at the end , it was October 1986.

We won 9 games overall v Wigan and I've been lucky enough to see them all with the most memorable being the 4-3 win in October 1986 when we came back from 3-1 down with 10 minutes left to win 4-3 with a last minute Tony Reid winner !!

there wasnt a massive crowd but the number that would not believe the score when those that stopped till

the end got back to the pubs in town after the match lol

Tony Reids winner from about 25 yards flew into the roof of the net at the kop end as I recall

I can remember 5 Hulleys buses going to Rochdale and getting pulled in by the police because kev clarke kicked out at a youth stood at a bus stop. They took everybody's name and address and we were warned that we would all be in court the next day id there was anymore trouble. We were about 15mins late a goal down and I think we won 4-1, in the glorious days of king Kevin Randall.
