We won 9 games overall v Wigan and I've been lucky enough to see them all with the most memorable being the 4-3 win in October 1986 when we came back from 3-1 down with 10 minutes left to win 4-3 with a last minute Tony Reid winner !!

We lost 3-1 in the last game at Springfield Park in 1999. I think the Roger Willis one was 1997.

David Moss, Bruno and a John Robertson og in the 3-2 win at Springfield Park in the league 1994/95 season. The Harry Willis brace was in the first leg of a 2 legged League cup 1997/98 win still at Springfield Park, we won the home game 1-0 Tony Lormor scored. That was our last win against them, we've lost 8 and drawn 4 since then.

Last league game at Springfield, they had a league play-off game where they drew 1-1 v Man City after that which was the last ever game at Springfield Park.

Saw us play them at Springfield Park in the PROPER cup. I think we were 2-0 up early on but drew 2-2. Won the replay and beat the Blunts in the second round again after a replay before being knocked out by Peterborough in the third round, again after a replay I believe. Must have been 1980 I should think.
What I remember most about the game at Wigan was the rare sight of the peerless midfield trio of Wilson, Bonnyman and Salmons playing together. Usually someone was injured and Andy Kowalski, a player some rated, but I didn?t would fill in.
What I would give for that midfield now and the great Alan Birch was also in that side! Great days!

I went on a Bagshaws battlewagon bus to Wigan and the driver took us to the rugby ground instead of Springfield Park! We eventually arrived 15 minutes after kick off and Bruno had already scored...finished 1-1. Not a great day out!

I had a similar thing happen, but with an East Midlands bus taking us to Oakwell. We were well on the way to Leeds until the driver decided to listen to those on board. I can't remember how late we were but the match was well underway. The worst bit was to come, apart from us losing, the bus got bricked. I was probably about 12 years old at the time. I think Ollie Banks had a relation playing that night, his dad.

The exact same thing happened to me when we went there in the 2-2 drawn FA cup game. I went with the supporters club on a Bransons coach that day and the driver took us to the rugby ground. Fortunately we still made the kick off with time to spare. I've just noticed the date of that game 22nd of November 1980.

A similar thing happened to us but at the old Plough Lane watching us v Wimbledon.
Our driver decided it would be a good idea to drop us off in central London for a couple of hours free time saying we would still have plenty of time to make the kick off in Wimbledon. Then the inevitable happened and we got caught up in traffic on our way to the game and we were passing Stamford Bridge at around 2.50pm when a group of Chelsea skinheads mistaken our coach decked out in blue and white to be a Cardiff City supporters coach who Chelsea were playing that day.
A hail of missiles were thrown, bricks, bottles, concrete, anything they could lay their hands on.

We arrived at Plough Lane 20 minutes or so after kick off just in time to see Gary Simpson score I think it was. If I remember correctly Alan Cork equalised for Wimbledon and it finished 1-1. I'm pretty sure John Turner made his debut in goal for us that day after signing for us from Torquay. I can remember it being pretty chilly on the drive back to town with the broken windows. I think that was a Bagshaws coach that day. Who would believe Bagshaws football coaches had air conditioning way back in 1980 even though it was due to the thoughtfulness of the Chelsea skinheads lol.

Goalscorer was Alan Crawford, it was Gary Simpson's only game for us that season.

😅😅😅, aircon. AC, I didn't go to that one, but I think the local coach firms had Auto windscreens on speed dial at that time 😀.
I went with a mate to watch Liverpool once, and his aged grandfather was driving. We were both fast on, but when we arrived, we found that Liverpool had grown a tower very similar to the one at Blackpool 🤔. We did get there on time though.

Probably around the same period me and my mate had gone to London for a couple of days and it was just coincidence town were playing Wimbledon so we thought we would go. As we headed from central London in the general direction of Wimbledon not really knowing how to get there - at the time I was nowhere near as familiar with the capital as I would later become, whilst my mate was and would always be clueless regarding sense of direction, we asked a copper where the football match was, not realising Chelsea was in the relative vicinity and at home that day. Which one? he smiled doubtless thinking we were a couple of country bumpkins.
We did get there and although I can't recall the score, I think we won or drew, I have vague memories of some town fans going on the pitch, not an invasion as such as there weren't enough of them, but still somewhat naughty.

Speaking of Wimbledon their crowds seem to have gone up, not far off our average, back then they could barely scrape 2 - 3 thousand. Of course they have been right up and down the entire league pyramid, and going out of it and coming back in the same time we have been scraping around the lower tiers.

I stand corrected mate. It was a long time ago and my memory isn't what it once was. Thinking about it I think it was Alan Crawford as you say. I'm getting confused with Gary Simpson playing that day because at that time he hadn't played that much. As young teenagers I played football with Gary quite often as he was a mate of my best mate. Sadly both Gary and my old best mate are no longer with us God rest their souls.
