If that's accurate could it mean that he's proved what he can do and now wants to go back ?

Good player is Markanday but Championship ready right now? No chance.

Championship is not necessarily starting every game. It?s being part of the squad. Very few players in his position play 90 minutes now. He will be going back, no doubt.

Yep. There's no other way for them to be able to weigh up whether to offer him another contract.

I went to Blackburn to watch them play Sunderland last season and it was only when i checked back that i realised Markanday had come on and played the last 30 odd mins of that game. He didnt make much of an impact.

We are already seeing Dobra's limitations against bigger, stronger and faster League 2 opponents. Good as he is, another 2 Leagues higher against even better players is beyond him I think. Markanday has the same limitations of strength, speed and stature I suspect - anonymous on Saturday against a team of inferior skill but superior effort and hard work. League 1 for him maybe, but I doubt Championship. At his best he has been good, but hardly brilliant even at our level.

Former Tottenham player sold for decent cash wants to get back to level 2. No surprise is it?

If that is what he thinks/hopes I reckon he'll end up a very disappointed young man

Markanday has had a couple of poor games but in my opinion is a level or two above Dobra. Markanday definitely has the strength. Think he may be at a league 1 club in the new year. With regards Dobra, think he needs a few home truths spelling out. Lad has talent but you need more than that. He still has time though

Championship isnt just Burnley, Sunderland, Leeds, Sheffield United, but also Oxford, Coventry, Plymouth, Portsmouth and Preston.
To read this board, you would think players have never played level and four and then level two. See Clucas, Darikwa, Morsy and even Beesley.

It is an opinion nothing more nothing less. However, reading their opinions of him they don't rate him at their level but stupidly thought he would coast it at L2 level. Well he hasn't and if anything his performances are going backwards. He has loads of work to do and he'll need to redouble his efforts given his physical attributes.

I'm not saying it about Markanday, because I don't know the lad personally, but sometimes older loanees from higher level clubs think that they'll breeze through the lower leagues but it isn't always the case. I'm hoping, with Dilan, it's just a few off games and he's back to his best Saturday.
The rumour mongering about him going back in the New Year, could be just that and let's face it, if he wants to go back surely he'd be playing his heart out every game.
Probably rumours by someone who knows someone who delivers the pies to their ground and he's talked to the cleaner, who heard a rumour from his granny.
If he goes, he goes, but I hope he doesn't.

I rate him, think he?s really good technically with a low centre of gravity which helps turning etc. he?s been crap last two games but so have all 4 forward players. Think it?s more to do with our midfield not having a hold of the game, so the front 4 haven?t been able to get into the game.

Markandy is like a lot of players at leagues 1 and 2 level, has ability but lacks the consistency to produce a minimum 7 out of 10 performance every game

Yes, you're right. If the defensive pair haven't got the game by the scruff of its neck, then the attacking midfielders have to come short or the ball needs moving quicker and longer. I've always thought that one of the full backs should stay at home when teams press high, thus allowing for triangles to be performed allowing us to move the ball up the pitch.

Just wondering if he?s dropped off a bit since the rumours of a recall and not being cup tied for after xmas etc have surfaced?

Could be I suppose. Footballers are only like the rest of us and need to know what is in front of them going forward, although it doesn't always happen. Could be many reasons why his form as dipped, but he's not the only one.

I'm not sure he's been any worse than anyone else the last couple of games to be honest.

Same. He's been pretty consistently decent for us bar the last two + Port Vale away, where everyone else was awful too. I like him and hope he stays but it's not sounding promising, if he goes back in Jan then hey ho, we just sign somebody else.

I don't think he'll go back, but that's just me being hopeful, because I'd like us to pick him up at the end of the season.

agreed. like all the midfield 10s, space is at a premium as more teams line up with 5 across the middle and squeeze the space. beat your opposite number and you still have a full back to beat. come inside and you find yourself next to 3 centre mids and your own number 10.
