Scratches head why Jones re-signed; likewise Williams. Cook knows more about the game than me but he will start to irritate the irritateable noticibly if this keeps going

I think Cook thought Jones would be available when required - say 20/25 games. Speaking after then game on Tuesday he seems quite negative about his fitness levels because of his tendonitis. Kind of begs the question why did he play in such a nothing game. Williams is a different kettle of fish as Cook seems reluctant to trust him from the offset of the season.

Yesterday's ref???? would certainly
welcome a snifter or two when he reflects on yesterday's performance and reality sinks in of what a balls up he made of his second game in the EFL, but will there be any consequences?

No consequences, and no regrets mate. We all know they have a difficult job, but the first thing they have to do, and that's watch the game intently and be unbiased.

The only consequence will be that he will get to ref us again at some point this season and probably make more mistakes

Just as a side note, how bad was the lighting there yesterday, I said at the game it was poor, but just watched the highlights ( debatable in its self) and you can hardly see the ball... very poor quality lighting
all we are saying, is give us ...a goal, or 2+

Off topic, couple of snippets of gossip from someone I know who has been right a few times with signings. Two promising players arriving in January from Gateshead and Altrincham, one a midfield and one a centre half. No idea of any names yet, but other clubs in our league also in the hunt too.

Was exactly the same at Newport. Not sure why we were required to change ours when clearly there?s some in the league plenty worse?

The linesman said to Cook don't talk to me like that informed the reff.who booked him.
It's OK to deliberately elbow Dobra while he's on the floor too?
Or is it just Dobra moaning that's wrong?
Two poor refereeing decisions cost us a point today
Unfortunately some of our "fans" revel in a defeat. So sad.

***** sake this thread is pathetic

Does no one remember being in non league for 6 years?

The entitlement from some is ridiculous!

We are in a new division, a top half finish would be great, anything better would be outstanding and there is no reason why we couldn?t make a run for the play offs

We will not win every game, we will play badly occasionally, people need to get a grip

We miss Tyrer

Richard O?Donnell starts over him for Blackpool.

We miss having a player in the middle of the park that doesn?t let opposition teams waltz straight through the heart of us unchallenged.

While I don?t think either Boot or Thompson are world beaters, I?d say it?s the least of our worries. Tyrer may be an upgrade but he let in his fair share of avoidable goals.

I used to live near Breckenridge, in Colorado. Great place.

Anyone who thinks we could attract another manager as good as Cook needs their bumps feeling. It's incredible that we have him.

As for squad depth, that's very good for this level too. Not too many players I'd say are not up to this level. Sure, we've had two bad performances but overall, we are back where we belong in a proper league with some really exciting players on the park, playing good football, so no complaints from me.
These go to eleven.

Tyrer was dropped after the 5-1 drubbing by Peterborough

I'd second that. After watching the rubbish before Cook came back, it's great to see the club on its feet, with a decent squad, built by an excellent manager , backed by decent owners. A sticky patch, we're going through, that's all.

Well said.

Remember losing to the our little neighbours before conceding four after being three up at Morecambe the following week.

Two of several defeats in a season we still won the league.

Everyone relax...

After 16 games in 2013-14, we had 29 points and weren't anywhere near 11 points off top spot.

In no way am I going to contrast this season with that. We're well off the consistency that we had shown by game 16.

Glad to see some more positive balanced realistic posts after the barrage of doom and gloom earlier in the thread. I think automatic promotion is virtually impossible even now, but the play offs are always possible as long as we keep in touch. Of course it will be disappointing if we don't make the play offs, but didn't we finish eighth in Cook's first season here before winning the title the following year?

A couple more points - as someone mentioned we will not attract a better manager than Cook. Yes he can be stubborn and hardly anyone (including me) agrees with his persistence in playing Naylor out of position, and as someone also said there must be a reason that for such a successful manager Cook has worked almost exclusively in the lower leagues - I have often wondered why someone so successful hasn't plied his trade in the championship or even higher - maybe now we know. However I think it would be devasting if he were to leave and have faith that he can steer us back on course.
The other point is the bookies got it horribly wrong making us pre season title favourites, as I feared they would. It is always difficult to predict the lower two divisions and the bookies are often wrong here, whereas they tend to get it right higher up the pyramid.
I thought mid table or play offs at best, at present I seem to have got it right. Of course I hope I'm wrong and we can finish higher. However even now it would take a run of wins akin to Donny's last season to get anywhere near automatic. One thing is certain we need to cut out the draws. I would take a couple of defeats in ten games if we could win the other eight rather than throw points away going on an unbeaten but drawing sequence.

And before they do I will just clarify that my comment is regarding Naylor not being in midfield and nothing more.
