Clearly an absolute disgrace the way he was treat by Croot and the Trust

Without a doubt the best manager ppg we will ever have

2 losses all season and playing in front of 40000 at the European Champions

A 60 percent win rate taking over a failing club heading to oblivion

Does anyone think Cook would have come in at the time JR left Gloucester? Of course not, the foundations had been laid

James Rowe saved our football club and we should all be eternally grateful and equally ashamed by his treatment

You're deluded (as usual). We were so bad when he came virtually anyone could have done what he did with free reign to sign who they liked.

One for the legal experts on here, then. If these players had been called as witnesses in the trial, would the club have had any authority to stop them?

How could they?

We had been managed by a succession of utter incompetents previously. He had a system, a way of working and playing and he was allowed to bring in players on a whim. He had no loyalty to anyone, would have had none for us had an opportunity come up to leave and I will shed no tears than we had little for him once his dubious character had been worked out.

He was a new manager taking over a dreadful side, of course he?d have assurances he could revamp the squad

Says in the article he?d had offers that he?d turned down

Given I don't know what you're talking about it's unlikely here.

I was very impressed with how he turned us around. I thought he was great until he proved himself to be a distinctly unpleasant individual. That you still think he's great after his character has been exposed says an awful lot about you doesn't it.

What about his character?

He had an affair of sorts, is that what you?re referring to?

No, the fact he is a nasty piece of work. Ask Luke Rawson's dad.

Paul Cook has promoted us twice as champions.

A pinnacle he's also scaled at two other clubs.

Then there're the play off and Wembley appearances.

And all achieved playing attractive football whilst universally popular

In my mind the best pound-for-pound manager in the land.

To be balanced Rowe addressed glaring deficiencies after arriving and turned us into a table topping side.

However no one can deny the brow furrowing turnover of staff. Attributed by many to an arrogantly abrasive attitude. Reports of which emerged shortly after his arrival.

I'd also urge folk to investigate his exit from previous clubs.

In short, news of the allegations against him caused no surprise in certain circles.

He was found not guilty in court. We have to respect that. But the immoral behaviour of a married father occupying a professional position is now public knowledge.

I will always respect the Trust for having the courage to do the right thing. In the same way I'll always marvel at their attracting back a manager of Cook's pedigree.

A manager taking a football club which can hold it's head high on and off the field in exactly the right direction.

If individuals renown for their, well, let's use the word 'ugly' views would still rather champion a non league nobody with a huge stain on his record, then so be it. Maybe they and Rowe are made for one another...

No, which implies that the Judge ruled that their evidence couldn't be heard.

Again, if the principle of the validity of their evidence is debated in open court, it affects the jurors imo. To be clear, that's the principle, not the actual evidence.

I don't think there were any press coverage of the Friday court proceedings.

I would think that if there were discussions about whether evidence could be allowed to be part of the proceedings, it wouldn't have been in front of the jury but would have been in private between judge and barristers, purely for the reason that to be even having the conversation in front of the jurors would be prejudicial.

I don't really get the point that was made about Town apparently preventing players from assisting the case. There would be nothing stopping Rowe's team from summonsing players as witnesses to give evidence if they thought it was important and relevant. Bit of a smokescreen going on there I think.

I wonder if he planned to call any players as witnesses to his internal disciplinary hearing? It never got quite that far, of course, so we'll never know.
It's nice to be able to Trust again.

You're spot on.

I understand when this particular subject reared its head during cross examination, the Judge stopped the question and cleared the court.

1 win in 8 home games btw

Cracks appearing? The loss at the Champions of Europe, because we?d lost 2 games all season.

We?d only lost 2 all season so that?s only 6 players😉

If a rapid turnover of players as experienced during Rowe?s tenure isn?t a sign of cracks appearing then I don?t know what is. To me it exhibits a lack of planning and forethought

It's perhaps a little interesting that this media piece was done. Some might say that a risk of a media piece is that it might possibly create an appetite in the media for more, perhaps.

He may have done. I struggle to see what any player would be add to add evidentially, whether at Court or in a disciplinary hearing. If you're relying on them to give character evidence, that's barrel-scraping.
