Shame he was coming on fine, we've plenty of options though.

Not sure I see it that way. It's an area of concern.

Who are these options to partner Oldaker

Banks (better in an attacking role), Naylor (could be need elsewhere), Jones (troubled with Achilles) and some untried kid or some round peg in a square hole.

I see a serious weak spot in that squad

Not sure plenty of options?. Metcalfe injured; Fleck no comment; Banks never ever a CM. So we have Naylor, DJ and Jones!

Well that is another area of concern but one that can be addressed in January if it happens, likewise the midfield situation. We have to get to January with a very thinned out midfield

If Mike Jones is available, he plays, but if not and there's no other option, it has to be Mandy to the rescue once again. Now Tanton is fit again Mandeville will be freed up, so long as Blackburn don't spoil things.

We were lucky with injuries last season but still made good use of the squad.

This season injuries have caught up with us making it difficult to have a settled team.

However, all teams have to cope with injuries if they suffer them. So far, we have coped and no doubt will continue to cope. Yes, the squad might be stretched at times but we have always managed to name 18 players without relying on any untried youth. I felt it was always going to be a season of consolidation but admit now that I have hopes of a play off place. Most of our injuries are relatively short term but as one player returns another drops out.

I am in little doubt that we will see some transfer movement in January involving players coming in and going out but in the medium to long term I expect such movements to be for the benefit of the squad balance and quality.

I think that's about right, although we have had the odd longer term ones, like Palmer and Sheckleford. You could probably add Madden to the list too.
As you rightly say, the squad will get stronger going forward.

They'll have irons in the fire I have no doubt.

Cook very reluctant to to talk about Dunks, something amiss here

One could say the only successful transfer in this season (not loans) is Gordon, disappointing really.

What is there to update with Dunkley...they said he was injured a couple of weeks ago so unless he is close to coming back then there is nothing to update. Not sure what he's doing in terms of gym work but he was in the gym last Saturday lunchtime as my dad texted me to say he'd seen him down there with Fleck.

For what its worth Dunkley was doing just fine prior to injury.

He must be only manager reluctant to talk about players full stop. Still, it's an improvement on before.

Might be wrong, but I took his ducking of the question almost as a clue he might be back tomorrow.

Really hope you are correct - I took it as the opposite but then again I am a pessimist by nature

Nothing amiss about keeping who's available and who isn't away from the Harrogate manager.
