Just go Lancaster after. Don't mind an early KO, get the football out the way and get parked up in the pub for the rest of the day

True you could also tick another ground off as at Lancaster City are at home at the Giant Axe 3pm. If lucky and a traffic light free run you could make KO.

Thoughts go to coach organisers who spent time getting quotes from various companies and then sealing season long deals followed by printing and distribution of season long travel details to regulars, then having to do it all again at the whim of folk wanting to sell adverts.

After sympathising with travel organises a word for exiled season ticket holders who buy their S/T in good faith to find they loose out due to late rescheduling of fixtures.
Football that certain generations have known and enjoyed is on a very slippery slope.

Football is generally a 3pm Saturday afternoon event IMHO and not about somef..ker trying to sell you a pizza.

No one should be surprised let alone more experienced season ticket holders and people organising travel groups etc. Its been known for a while that this was going to be the case with the new TV deal when it was announced during last season i think it was and also its not really late changes for the vast majority as they know all the arrangements until early January now instead of games being shifted a couple of weeks before.

Anyone doing coach travel is unlikely to have posted details of times for games well into Sept and onwards already so its likely not affected that and if they had any sense they would have been talking to coach companies knowing there could be movement around the weekend but it could be confirmed before the season started.

The only thing that will cause issues now is postponements and we cant lay the blame for that with Sky really.

Tranmere hasn't been moved for TV though and will still only be streamed as it would have been at 3pm.

All official fixtures lists have the caveat *subject to change on them for this exact reason, anyone who makes plans well ahead of the game should know the risks

Could this in popular parlance be described as "miss information".A very well trusted and exceptionally well organised travel organ from The Barrel had a meet last week distributing travel details for the season. It's on Facebook apparently (not for me). This process having worked for many a year, is wrong then?

Criticising folk for making arrangements well in advance and not been up to speed with the whims of sky etc. folk that Saturday football is what they do is just another nail in the coffin.

Had a look and they have put stuff up on there for the season but it will all have been done knowing things may need changing and they have posted since advising updates due to changes will be advised of soon. This is no different to things they would have had to do the last few season when TNT moved us for TV at much later notice or games get moved about due to postponements. I remember talking to Paul last season when we had a couple of games including Barnet moved around due to weather and it was a pain for him as the moves to midweek instead of Saturdays meant refunds and changes of bus for reduced numbers.

A group like the Barrel Inn one are experienced in organising these trips and will know that they would likely have to make changes to things publicising it that far in advance, the details of the TV deal have been around for ages. I'd prefer 3pm Saturday, most fans would, but the league and the clubs want more money from TV and the flip side of that is TV want more games.

So, after all that, do you feel no consideration as been shown to the fans (travel specifically) who have supported clubs for years by taking away traditional KO times?.
Bearing in mind approximately one third of our fixtures have been altered already this year and that's before other outside sgents come flexing their muscles to prove they are being proactive!!

Fans haven?t really been considered for years but at least the increase in affected games is tempered by the fact it?s not happening at a couple of weeks notice etc as happened in the past which would have been far more annoying for fans/travel organisers.

Folks would book train travel a while in advance for cheaper prices only to get shafted if a game was moved for tv at late notice which won?t happen now.

Not sure why you?ve got all annoyed about it now when it was announced months ago and we all knew it was happening.

Probably because I'm thick. Or possibly because me and many others don't spend hours on the 'net resulting in us not realising the extent of the changes.

It's p'd me of because, on fixture release you look for the dates of away games you fancy and then find they are moved. But what really p's me off is the total disregard by the likes of sky and the clubs for what has been the lifeblood of football for time immemorial the actual paying customer.

Yes it's been going on for years higher up but this is a town message board and therefore I feel obliged to whinge.

I have been reading this thread and I totally agree with what Clarevoyant is saying. We are all well aware aware of the reasons for the changes, but like he says no consideration is ever given to the supporters who travel to the games, only armchair fans. Saturday 3pm is traditionally football time. I am sure I read something from Sky when it was publicised stating there would be minimal disruption to fixtures. The number of changes to our fixtures is not what I would call minimum, unless of course you are an armchair fan.

Minimal was I think in relation to notice of games being moved not amount. Can?t fulfill the number the league have agreed to without a fair few being moved.

I've spoken to several people over the past few days and the concensus is that the amount of changes (a third of games pre xmas for us) is excessive and a shock. A shock because none expected that amount. With the majority of those consulted being Pensioners, they don't have the time or inclination to be playing about on computers to much and therefore any such info slipped under the radar, very convenient. It must be very frustrating for folk planning trips for tge season to have to scrap plans and start again.

The novelty of having to trek across the country for a 12.30 KO will soon wear off, football as we know it, a good day out every fortnight will diminish whilst Joe Bloggs sits at home with his can of carling watching some obscure footy whilst awaiting the 1.45 at Haydock.

Sky and the like couldn't care a f... who they crap on from a great height. The EFL have totally sold the fans, the ones they've relied on for income for decades down the river.

Do the clubs benefit, not sure. If all the clubs get the same from the TV deal, how does their spending power improve in relation to transfers all the clubs will be in an equal buyers market but with the extra cash no doubt players and specifically agents will take advantage

Load of crap

Not sure whether this has been asked across the treads yet (apologies if so) but can?t see us on the Sky planner - is there a new channel coming or will it be a ?red button? type service?
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

Sky Sports+ launches Thursday i believe. There are 4 games on Friday at 8pm with Blackburn\Derby on a main channel then three on Sky Sports+ so suspect it will be some sort of either red button option or there will be something else you have to load to watch it such as an app like they have on Sky Q boxes for things. Will be able to watch Sky Sports+ via a Sky box, Now TV or via the Sky Sports App (not sky go app!) https://www.skysport...ive-next-season

Barnsley 20:00 Mansfield Town
League 1, Sky Sports+ (20:00)

Blackburn Rovers 20:00 Derby County
Championship, Sky Sports Main Event (19:00), Sky Sports Football (19:00)

Chesterfield 20:00 Swindon Town
League 2, Sky Sports+ (20:00)

Preston North End 20:00 Sheffield United
Championship, Sky Sports+ (20:00)

Sick of all these 12.30 kick offs already. I might have to find a new hobby.

Another couple of decent days buggered, pre match in Tewkesbury and and the Marble on Rochdale Rd pre Salford.

On a more serious note, I'm sure you've checked but Cheltenham Station is a bit of an hike from the ground probably a taxi job
