There's a certain justice in the criticism of Grigg, as admitted generally by his 'fox in the box' reputation. Thing is, put the ball anywhere near him in the box and he'll score regardless of how many defenders are trying to stop him.Not only is that a great talent, it frightens defences who put extra players on him and leave gaps elsewhere.
The problem is that we don't get it into the box enough, particularly at home. I exclude wild crosses sailing way over his head, which seems to be happening more and more.

The goal Madden scored first half is the sort of service they both will thrive on and Grigg has scored plenty of so far.

Out run Kyle Walker. There again that was then, this is now.
I recall he said he played rugby in his school days, he was decent because he was very fast.

His speed over short distances is still evident. What Bonnyman rambles on about is a requirement for somebody to beat a defender in a race for a ball over the top. He doesn't make clear whether he wants somebody to replace Grigg, which would be nonsensical, or partner him to completely change the system.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on

Also the fact that we generally dont play in a way that means we chuck balls over the top or in behind for the striker to chase anyway. Any balls we play in behind tend to be wide for our wide men to chase onto. However also the fact that teams often sit deep on us anyway so there isnt the space for running in behind.

That said there was more than one occasion where Grigg had foot races with defenders and either got their first or got there to make it difficult for the defender anyway. He's still plenty quick enough.

He certainly scares goalkeepers when he closes them down. Very good striker and team player.

Yep his goal at Bromley was it came from chasing down a ball in behind to pressure the keeper into making a mess of it.
