The words of their manager raise a concern for me. Its becoming a familiar refrain after our home matches:
We had a game-plan in terms of in and out of possession
We know how they play, we know their patterns of play, we have got all the stats, how the individuals play, so all the lads got that presented to them and we nullified them.

The Fleck thing is head scratching.

He's been here months now, but only a brief cup appearance and not even making the bench yesterday...

I've been saying that for weeks. Teams have us sussed before a ball is kicked. It has worked in the national league, that we could wear teams down with our persistence make them chase the ball and hit them later with our superior fitness and win the game. Not so much in league 2 with teams being equally as fit as us. So logic suggests we do something different. Make it so they don't know what we are going to do. If that means changing formation, so be it. But that would mean changing our style of play and possibly having a tall mobile striker as a target man and going long occasionally. But all I know is our home form has to change sooner rather than later before the attendance numbers drop and our gate receipts take a hit affecting our long term planning.

I wonder if playing Banks in the front 3 instead of pairing with Oldaker might be worth a punt but who do you drop? And that's only going to be possible once we can move Naylor back where he belongs. A weakened defence isn't helping and it does affect the balance. Going behind helps the opposition to park the bus and hit us on the break. It's happening all too often. We know PC will sort it, it's just when. We're not a bad side, it's just a tweak away from being a really good one.

The manner of their second goal highlights our weakness as it did at times last season. At the top of my summer shopping list was a player similar to Mike Jones to play alongside Tom Naylor in CM. We failed to sign that player and Tom's back covering in defence. For me, that's where our problem lies.

DJ's having a superb season, probably a contender for player of the season so far, but he's not our player of the season without the ball.

Who is the player in our side, that is going to put a player into the back of next week with a tackle before it gets into our third of the pitch?

I thought we were poor yesterday, created a lot of our own problems and without wishing to make excuses, it did feel like it was one of those days.

It sounds to me like we had the rug pulled from under us before the game kicked off which I think must have upset the apple cart a bit. I didn?t go yesterday so can?t really comment on the game but I would hope we have enough depth to be able to crack on with short notice changes to the squad.

If you?d have asked me two short years ago if I would be happy with where we are I would have snatched your hand off.

I think folk expected our dominance last season to carry into this and that was never going to happen. It?s shocking that folk were leaving the ground on 70mins as reported on this forum

We needed a ?Quigley? today 💙

We need a physical powerhouse up front to take the weight off Grigg. Most reams we've played have been a team of giants against the likes of Berry, Dobra and Markenday.

He?s at the fans Q&A and the Pig Derby today too. Don?t even know if he was at the ground yesterday, saw Horton, Palmer, Araujo, Jones etc in and around the lounges

If Connor Cook is getting on the the bench ahead of him, to me says we have big problems. And an expensive one

Yep. The preparation was less than ideal. Both Grimes and Boot wake up that morning expecting not to play. I think their mental prep was off and it showed. Banks is preferred in CM to Jones as a replacement for Metcalf. Could that have been a bit of lazy thinking by the management team? Whatever, that's the spine of the team lacking. Several ref decisions were inexplicable.
All in all, a bad day at the office.

Me too. I left straight after the 9th goal, just couldn't bear to see us loose 10:0. Though I did hear the cheer as the 10th went in as I walked back to the station.

What time then before the 90 mins, wouldn't have shocked you?

You sure that Mike was fit? Not even on bench, let alone starting 11.

It?s not as shocking as being 0-3 at home to Accrington Stanley

Jones, fleck and Metcalfe injured. Having just watched the second goal again, no more clips are required to justify why Banks must never play CM again
