We really were masters of our own downfall in that game! Dominated play for most of the game & Grimes I imagine would openly admit he had a poor game, a poorly timed challenge to concede a free kick leading to the goal, a sloppy pass into Gordon that lost possession, 30
Seconds later it?s 2-0?
Boot had a sloppy game, flapped at a number of crosses & was saved twice on the line by a defender.
It was definitely a poor day at the office for sure, Accrington did a job on us!
Time for the usual negative nancies to have their moment tonight?.leave them to it & don?t rise to the bait.
Enjoy your Saturday evening & chill

We were poor and never actually looked like scoring but the ref was just awful. We should've had a penalty for handball, their player pulled Naylor back by his shirt for their third and the amount of time wasting as well as the fouling he let Accrington get away with was just simply ridiculous.
Life goes on. Whatever happens.

One of those days, they did a job on us, we couldn't find the answer today, big moments in the game, no pen for what looked a clear handball, tantons effort before half time and then just lacked in the final but, game gone but again looked a clear foul on Naylor for third and no way back then, gone, move on to next one, it happens

Up to the hand ball resulting in a typical Drysdale decision Accrington had been the most dangerous team. After, Grimes rash challenge resulting in their first goal they looked comfortable up to the miss by Tanton. Then shortly after half time Banks failed to bring a save from their keeper when well placed and unmarked in their penalty area. Their No4 ran straight through us for the 2nd and possibly Naylor was looking for the foul as he was outdone for pace when it came to the 3rd.

Altogether, a bad day at the office but until we learn to move the ball forward more crisply and quicker teams will continue to do what they have successfully done all season when visiting us. We seemed to be a few players short today and were certainly off the pace for much of the game. However, I really do hope this is the end of this idea of playing Naylor at CB. He is not a CB and we seem to have weakened both defence and midfield by playing him there. Hope Dunkley is soon available again.

The game showed we have still got a lot to learn about this league and that the team is definitely in a transition period.

As poor as we were at times the two decisions by the ref have played a big part. Clear penalty at 0-0 that if we score we take the lead and different game from there. At 2-0 there is a chance you can get back in it but to not give that clear foul and leave them clean through to get a third kills the game.

It was a flattering score line but they deserved the win.
For all our possession we were toothless in front of goal and again too much side to side and backwards.
One bad performance and result they?ll take on the chin.
Expect a different performance next game.

cook has often talked about the box (2 cbs and the 2 dcms) whenever oldaker and banks are paired in that role i always feel we are lacking the protection to the centre backs, i too hope to see naylor back in midfield soon but begining to wonder as we've played a third of the season and naylor has mostly been at the back, could simply be that we've never really had the chance to go with dunkley and araujo which i think is plan A.

also today anyone know why metcalf, jones and fleck all missing from matchday squad? illness in the squad? maybe not, just seemed odd not to have any of the dcm back ups in the squad.

Metcalf has a heel injury.
Arujo has a tight hamstring.
Thompson rolled his ankle.

I reckon three games in a week took Jones, Fleck out of the equation.

The ref certainly thought so. Probably our players too.
Ref blew bang on the 4 minutes, even though there had been another injury stoppage in the added time.

With amount of stoppages, slow restarts and time wasting it could have be 10 - thank god it wasn't - it was a humane act

Was told before match that both Fleck and Jones have picked up injuries , not sure how true that is though.

Fleck is now 8 weeks on the pay roll and looks a gamble that sadly has not paid off.

I must have been at a different game. We had several excellent chances to score, in particular from a great fast breakaway when Tanton chose to shoot tamely, rather than to pass to Grigg who had an open goal staring him in the face.

We played well below our standard, but yes the ref.once again was not following the actual rule book.We were so easily eased off the ball, but we were also victim to many fouls, two handed pushes, shirt pulling, time wasting, faked injuries and the rest of the usual cheating crap that seems so acceptable by the officials these days.We definitely need to be more physical but it is a double edged sword as I definitely don't want to be joining the shithouse club.
Personally would have taken at least Tanton and Berry off at halftime, perhaps even Dobra, surely Naylor has got to return to midfield?
Am I right in thinking that it is now every league home game were we have conceded the same type of goal as their second by not taking the player out?
The opposition don't think twice about chopping our players down, why we just let them run through us I don't know.
We see each team arriving using the same game plan and neutralising us, which suggests to me that surely our tactics need to change?

That not how it looks from the video highlights. Far easier for Tanton to slot home, than find Grigg surrounded by four defenders.

just inexperience really, amazing opportunity from DJ's through ball, tanton never looked certain of what to do, looking for the pass then realised he was in, obviously saw the keeper and hit it straight at him
