Winger we had on loan from Oldham who like most of that side wasnt particularly good!

Since his 15 apps and 1 goal for us he's played for Halifax, Dinamo Bucharest, a team in Bulgaria called Cherno More before jetting off to Australia to play 26 games for Melbourne Knights in the National Premier Leagues Victoria and then dropped a division in the Victoria football pyramind to join a side called Bentleigh Greens....all thanks to Wikipedia!!

Bit of hype around he when joined us as he tore Mansfield a new one in a televised game, but yes, he wasn't good!

He was a big improvement on what we had - speaks volumes of the state of the squad

If grigg and the team carry on In its current form we could well be in line for promotion. That in my eyes would make grigg one of the best signings in the clubs history. Non league to
League one scoring potentially 50
Goals in the process.

I?m getting carried away but you get my point

But how many could he end up with if the club didn't appear to fall foul of some stupid "handicap system" and were allowed penalties?

Assuming he didn't take them like the one that's still in orbit taken at Borehamwood
Derbyshire is Derbyshire
Yorkshire is Yorkshire

When I lived in in Melbourne, my Sunday team played at Bentleigh Greens' ground for a couple of years. Fantastic gyro stand down there! Nothing like playing a game with the sweet aroma of grilled meats wafting through the air. Its a nice setup they've got going but thats a serious fall from grace from English professional football.

Saw when looking up Bentleigh Greens they were formed by the Cypriot community in the area.

I lived in Bentleigh for a couple of months. Went to see Melbourne Knights play- very much a club of the Croatian community, who had built a stand when they sold Mark Viduka IIRC. 'Soccer' was very much an ethnic game back then, and the Aussies we were staying with had no time for it at all. Even when we were near the Knights' stadium the local Aussie kids (presumably not of Croatian background) had no idea what we were talking about when we asked for directions.
These go to eleven.

If you look at the page for the league Bentleigh play in on Wikipedia they list all the teams with their heritage which ties in with all that.

Grigg V Dallas

Dallas (for Barnsley, Oldham, Barrow and the club in Scotland - Kilmarnock?) I can only recall 2 goals.

Grigg - 30 odd goals.

We all know which player was the right choice.

Dallas isn't even a tenth as good as Will Grigg. I don't even know or care where he's at now.

Yes, suburban football is still very much arranged around groups of ethnic origin. That's why many of teams in the A-League were formed from scratch when the competition came in to existence, to reduce the amount of cross-cultural issues that rivalries such as South Melbourne FC (Greek) versus Melbourne Knights (Croatian) came lumbered with

Unfortunately Dallas or his agent at the time appeared to chase the ????, rather than what was best for his football career.

His career has gone backwards, whilst we have leapt forwards.

Dallas,Quigley and Macallum up front then

Grigg, Madden,Berry ( Markandy) now , different gravy

Far superior. Dallas would not have been as effective

Dallas played just fine for us.
His problem is perhaps not playing under a manager nearly as skilled as Cook.

I'll give you that Cook gets players playing to their strengths, look at Banks, he's played as a holding midfielder, the number 10, and down each wing. A squad with one of them in their ranks is blessed, but we have several, thanks to Cook and his willingness to experiment with players.

Dallas is another of those players who had one decent game that gets blown up out of all proportion. Forget all this nonsense about chasing money, he is just not good enough
