like I've said I've sat in all areas of the ground over the years and south stand sounds flat .

Sitting in the kop you only hear what?s being sung near the drum when they pick up the song and over shout what?s being sung at our end.
God I hate this league.

Stoke City

Selhurst is generally good as they have organised support in the Lower Holmesdale / Holmesdale Fanatics. I do know they have had clashes with the club more recently around the blocks they are in however as they wanted to move but prior to that had a good relationship with the club to allow for planned displays, safe standing blocks, allocated area and being able to bring flags/banners etc in

I stand in the Kop, fairly central a few rows down from the top where everyone stands. The atmosphere can be fantastic in the middle, but too often it?s just a handful of people trying to get something going with little response, even to a simple chant like Paul Cook?s Barmy Army. In my opinion, there are too many people in the Kop sitting as if they?re in the West or East Stand. To really build atmosphere, everyone needs to join in. And if we want that energy to be felt around the whole ground, then the West and East stands need to get involved too.

It?s easy to say the atmosphere isn?t great while sitting back and relaxing (tongue in cheek?no offense meant!). For example, someone mentioned the Berry chant earlier. It?s a brilliant, unique chant that sounds fantastic when sung properly?just look at how Celtic did it for Jota on YouTube. It?s far better than some of the more repetitive chants, but as noted, people hesitate because it has a few more words to remember.

The solution is simple: when chants start up, join in and give them a go!

I sit in the Kop to the left side. I can assure you that it isn?t only the middle that sing and chant. There are loads down the left side who make a right noise. One lad in particular near the front is always on his feet ramping up the singing and chanting. It?s like others say, you only tend to hear where you are and everywhere else sounds flat. It?s probably nothing more than an acoustics issue. Been on the Kop in the same seat since we moved there and never seen any problem with the atmosphere. As for the Berry chant and to be fair some of the others, I?ve no idea what the lyrics are as I can?t make out what?s being sung.

Here we go again!

I completely agree ? it?s not just the middle section that sings I didn?t mean that, apologies sir that?s what came across; that?s just where I sit so mentioned the atmosphere can be good there.

The issue, as I see it, is that while we have a few pockets on the Kop, middle, S5, etc., that consistently contribute, the rest don?t tend to get involved. In my opinion, most of the Kop should be joining in with nearly every chant, although I may be being a bit unrealistic.

My main point is that it feels like some people will complain about the atmosphere without doing much to contribute themselves. That?s an issue we could solve easily.

Here?s the chant for Berry:

When we score,
You hear the Spireites sing,
Berry on the wing,
Berry, Berry on the wing.
Every time you?re on the ball we know,
There?s gonna be a goal,
Our superstar from Macclesfield.

Songs like these don?t just sound good, in my opinion; they give a massive boost to the players who love it ? just look at Colclough with his song, or Quigley?s when he was still with us.

But they are dyspheerable and a bit catchy and people join in.

Would be better off with the old 60s/70s song 'We've got Kevin Hector/Randall on the wing' song

Not that I've heard, only a select few in the younger group, it's not sung loud with most of the away support joined in like other chants.

I don't join in as I don't know what's being sung. Either way it's preferable to that disgusting one with reference to necrophilia.

So cringe. What makes them think it?s a good song to sing? I?d hide if anyone I was with sang it.
