Just seen a post on Facebook, showing the average home attendance as a percentage of population for each town. Now, obviously these statistics can be screwed massively, as I'm sure it doesn't include the populations of Clay Cross, Staveley, Clowne etc, but it's the same for Carlisle I guess, and it's smaller satellite towns.
Anyway, here are the highlights:
1. Fleetwood 11.99%
2. Chesterfield 11.43%
3. Carlisle 10.4%
8. Grimsby 7.41%
12. Doncaster 4.7%
15. Bradford 2.93%
22. Notts Country 1.38%
24. Bromley 1%

We are a one team town which probably helps...eg, no Town v Utd etc.
I think historically the town's general populous do support the club and attend matches

I would quite like to know which geographical border that Stat used for Bromley!

I would assume the London Borough of Bromley! Which has a population of 329,830

Bromley population is about 330k. Until this year it was the largest town which had never had a FL team ever

It will include Staveley as it's within the borough.

Obviously the Notts County number reduced by the closeness of a Premier League side.

Nottingham Forest aren't technically in Nottingham. Cross the bridge and it's Rushcliffe Council rather than Nottingham City.

We are a one team town but the flip side of that is we are not far from numerous clubs with success over the years hence the numerous supporters of the Sheffield clubs, Derby, Forest and even stretching over to the likes of Man City/United.

Our catchment includes North East Derbyshire, Bolsover and parts of Derbyshire Dales district council areas, so arguably a catchment area of 200k+

Still impressive attendances though for League 2

How many miles to the nearest club to Carlisle, surely a rural population such as Plymouth, Swindon or Lincoln has a massive skew on these figures.

Who knows, but as neither Lincoln or Plymouth are in our division they won't be in this list Dave!

And it's 73 miles from Carlisle to Barrow (closest L2 club to Carlisle)

One I found noticeable being Bradford City instead of their normal inflated 16k they, because they couldn't include ridiculously under priced season tickets, only revealed a gate of 4k+. Would aldershot have been hoping for a bigger payday?

Still miss the next day papers that used to show scores, scorers, minutes of goals, and attendance.
