dobras goal today sums up dobra and cook in a way, whenever dobs recieves the ball in the final third this is pretty much what he is thinking to try and do, today he did it, well done dobs, many a coaching team would try and coach that out of a player to play the percentages, he is encouraged to keep trying it with the belief in him that he will make it happen, so for the times he does run into traffic (and he does) credit the management team for letting him keep trying, that's his game, let's not coach that out of him. On a slightly different note, madden today missed a "madden" chance and that's 2 recently that he should have netted at the south stand end... BUT i'd be more concerned if he wasn't there to miss them, he will convert and i reckon he'll still get close to his target of 20 this season...

Regarding your mention of Madden,a similar start by Will Grigg if I remember right...... and he ain't turned out too bad.

Good grief the PA are crap aren't they....First goal assist was indeed Tanton (stand corrected now I've seen it myself) second goal was Jacobs but the 3rd where they've said that Colclough had the assist was actually Madden.

I agree, the only thing in Dobs head is to drive forward and smack it into the onion bag, and very refreshing it is too. Although it can be frustrating when another player is free in the box and would be the better option. But when you are an attacking player it can make you selfish.
Regarding Madden's target of 20 goals I think it's optimistic.

Best part was when the PA announced our opponents as Dorking !!! ....... we were sat in the West Stand hospitality near to the Horsham directors..... they laughed and stated that this was the ultimate insult !!!! at least they saw the funny side.

I don?t think Madden and midfield are quite on the same page yet unlike the understanding with Grigg

I thought the same but the DT saying that Blackburn didn?t give him clearance for the FAC in case they wanted to recall him in January. If they didn?t have a clause then he would have played today. DW saying similar

Thinking on, it would have to be a pretty short sighted club that didn't stipulate a January recall and cup exclusion clause, especially for a promising player who is 24 next summer. To do so reduces transfer income opportunities.

We did. Nearly caught the ****er. Cook was going barmy and rightly so.

Sat in W4 today, great seats but feckkkkk me there?s some miserable people sat in there. Average age of about 70, know nothing about football and just moan all the time. We joke about the ?gerrit forrad? brigade but genuinely heard this loads

You're right there was certainly alot of fresh faces in that area, bringing both impatience and reducing the average age somewhat.
It was worth it though to be an eye witness to one of Cooks better outbursts.
It just shows the inconsistency of 4th officials, if that prat Corlett had been 4th official Cook would have received his marching orders 30 seconds into his 5 minute outburst. Probably the 4th offical actually agreed with Cook and he thought he'd take one for the team and cock a deaf un.

A decent enough performance against a side who generally wanted to play football. Jacobs seemed on it and did probably as well as he's done for a good while. It's pleasing that Dobra scored. It was good to see Fleck on the pitch and starting to give bits of positional and distribution advice to his teammates. He could be exactly what we need in that regard. A good day with hopefully no injuries. Echo respect for Horsham.

Will Grigg was excellent, Jacobs was everywhere and looked like a man on a mission. Berry and Dobra were both targeted for some rough stuff at times but didn't rise to it. Both DJ and Metclalfe had solid games and the back four were all 7/10+. Our goalie did what he had to and didn't have a prayer with their brilliant goal.
If Horsham can build on the game, then I think it won't be long before they're in the National League. They have some tidy players who stuck to the game plan throughout. Their supporters were bang on and the club can be proud of them.

Dobra's hanging on to the ball is fine while he scores the odd one or two and we keep winning. Lose a few and it stops being so easily praised and gets annoying. The lad's loaded with talent and a good player, but he could move up a notch to his and our benefit if he added the missing 10% and learned to draw players and pass, not run into them.

I very rarely get that view of a game. We weren't far behind Cook. I see no useful purpose of the 4th official as all they appear to offer is someone to be (pointlessly) shouted at.

I think it's about where he is on the pitch. If he comes deep for the ball he's got to turn and then he's got 2 banks of 4 facing him and willing to kick him. You might say 'it's the same for Markanhay, Jacobs, and Banks' - but they are all better passers. It's a different ball game in their penalty area.

I think it would be interesting to interchange Dobra with Madden, so one drops into the number 10 role whilst the other gets amongst the defence in the box. Two totally different players in those positions, and I certainly wouldn't like to try and defend against Dobra in the box.

It would certainly be an interesting experiment, but you need a lot of muscle and body strength to compete in a crowded box - Will Grigg for instance. Dobra could be crowded out. It might be a nice tryout in the Mickey Mouse cup, but for the risk of injury.

Agree, I posted weeks ago saying that Dobra is displaying his dribbling, twisting and turning skills in positions that are either too deep or too wide. He would be exceptionally dangerous playing off Grigg, and staying in the central third of the pitch and as far forward as possible whilst, of course, staying onside. IMO both Dobra and Grigg should also stay as near the halfway line as possible when we are defending a corner, as they would be very dangerous on the break and also keep two or three opposition players occupied away from our penalty area.

Yes, we need an out ball and those two on the halfway line would certainly give us that. Dobs has exceptional skill on the ball and the greed of a striker. Madden fed Dobra perfectly yesterday for the third goal, and it was good to see them combining so well.

Interesting definition of a perfect feed. In my eyes it was a six yard side foot to a team mate, who, his back to the goal, from outside the area and with three or four defenders in his path, proceeded to score an excellent solo goal.
