Jacobs was very good. Looked another stonewall penalty, but my West Stand experience was sullied but the constant moaning of a cpl of old guys one in front of me one at the side of me. Tippy tapped rubbish Cook, take Oldaker off Cook, not good enough Cook?unreal

I've heard it from some of the younger fans too mate, but they can't all remember Workington Town, Bradford Park Avenue, and the Barrow sides from the 60s and 70s. I really do think some would rather watch a big boot up the pitch to bypass the midfield so that the yeti brigade can jostle for the ball.
I'd much rather watch the ball passed around the pitch, although the direct ball sometimes does have value.

We did. Nearly caught the ****er. Cook was going barmy and rightly so.

Sat in W4 today, great seats but feckkkkk me there?s some miserable people sat in there. Average age of about 70, know nothing about football and just moan all the time. We joke about the ?gerrit forrad? brigade but genuinely heard this loads

I was in W, ie C3, in the last seat, No84, before W4. So similar area to you, it was head scratchingly ludicrous.

A comfortable afternoon and felt we could have stepped up a gear or two, disappointing to concede a goal but the great travelling fans from Horsham deserved it.

I agree,we could have got out of second gear if required. Their goal was well worked, well taken, and thoroughly deserved.

Shout out for young Metcalf today from me,lot on here have decried his performances up to now, feel he is improving by the week and IMO was probably his best showing today.Thought on many occasions the ball was played to him in a pressured position when there was better outlets, but he lost out on very few occasions and chased down when he did.Well done young man!

i'd agree with that, you could see he visibly grew in confidence as the game went on today, thought DJ (who was also very good again) almost held back a little to allow him more opportunities to play, that run out today will have done him a lot of good.

Couldn?t disagree more. Sideways and backwards against Isthnmian League opposition. Once Fleck is up to speed he should be nowhere near the starting 11.

thought that today when we stepped it up and put pace into the game the quality showed. at times i think we were a little too ponderous and we needed one of the midfield two to perhaps move the ball forward quicker (and i dont mean lumping it forward just maybe moving the ball to either full back quicker or one of the 10s). berry continues to confuse and perhaps shows why he is an impact player as opposed to a starter. jacobs was the stand out player of the 3 tens; always showing for the ball and moving it quickly. all in all we did what we needed to do and good to see minutes in tanton (who is a fantastic player) and fleck finally.

i think long term Cook is hoping for a dunkley / araujo centre defender partership and a fleck / naylor partnership.

Metcalfe was my motm by a mile today, Jacobs also had a very good game. Grigg on fire again but how did Paddy's header not go in. Good to see Dobra back to scoring form. back 4 never troubled apart from the goal, great advantage played by the ref, but why no penalty? Anybody at home will do and anybody up North away, good home win at last. Good to see Fleck in a Blue shirt at last.

We had a home visitor, not the usual season ticket holder, behind us, felt he had to commentate, of sorts, on every one of our attacks in the first half.
As we built up yet more attacks after our first goal, every time we entered their box, he uttered the words ?Two Nil?. Mind numbing.

Think he got the message after we started parroting him.

Haven't read the entire thread but can't understand people moaning, comfortable win, good football, good goals against capable and committed team.

Tempo dropped occasionally and once they got their goal we did our usual. Really enjoyed the game, money well spent.

Must have been you moaning about the passing and shouting shoot that was sat near me when we got the disallowed goal. If that goal had stood it would have been a thing of great beauty

Watching Northampton really struggling against a team at the same level just now

First of all a big shout out for Horsham and their fans. I thought they put up a really good show, defended stoutly, and deserved their goal.

Our young loanees all did well. Just hope we can keep Tanton fit now as I think he can only get better with games and experience. Aroujo continues to glide through games and shows a calmness beyond his years. Metcalfe is improving, his forward pass to Tanton for the opener was excellent, just needs to occasionally move the ball forward more quickly at times, but his control when receiving in tight situations was quite good. Thompson did not have too much to do but fielded and kicked better.

Grigg took his goals like we have come to expect but I felt Madden showed he is not at his best up top by himself. Jacobs had a very good game and over 90 minutes was probably MOM. Berry was the more ineffectual Berry whilst for all his effort Colclough lacked end product too. Dobra worked hard but was man-marked for much of the game however his goal was an absolute joy to watch. We basically controlled the game from beginning to the end but did not create that many clear cut chances. However, it was nice to attend a game in a good, relaxed, atmosphere. Do what we had to do and progress into the next round.

I had one near me today, having a go at Metclalfe for being too negative and for Jacobs for never being in the game, and another, who's a regular just has a go at the whole team as individual mistakes are made. I'm around the same age as these two, so why am I seeing a different game to these moaners.

I had the feeling he'd been told to up his game at the interval. Not that he was bad first half, but in the second he was showing for every ball and covered every inch of the pitch. My only criticism would be that his first move on receiving the ball is nearly always back.
Jacobs was excellent, and all the better for having more time on the pitch. He must have been a real handful playing for sides that moved the ball forward quickly. In our system he's often left facing a packed defence, but he puts in some lovely chips forward to move things on.

Kettering are showing how it can go wrong if you're not on it, over it and all around it.

Looking at the scores today, no non league teams have been melted.

Job done against an opponent that had more about them attacking wise than the dull as ditch water Colchester and Salford outfits that stole a point up here in the league.

The saddest thing for me is the lack of respect for the competition. Lots of sides such as Rotherham fielding massively changed sides with no desire at all. You can imagine if we faced Man City in Round 3 they would send their U21 side 😡

That was pretty much Rotherham's first team apart from I'd say two at most. You need to pick another side.

A totally professional performance.

Said at the outset it would be all about possession and patience. And that's exactly how we played it. Early goals in each half helped, but other than a five minute burst at the end of the first and maybe ten at the end, a pre season friendly dominance.

Grigg the consummate goalscorer and Jacobs in his element behind him. Our second underlining that fact.

Horsham's fans amazing. Came for a day out, and enjoyed a day out. Hope it continues in Town t'neet.

A win for everyone, really...

That's the way to give a young player confidence, obviously you are not applying to join the #BBS anytime soon?
