wow that's nice to know but will it solve south stands problems with lack of volume ?

If he was still alive yes, but sadly he passed away some years ago. He did make up for poor numbers at Saltegate though lol.
The problem can't be to do with the ground because sometimes the noise from the top is right up there. Bung in half a dozen Mikes on the top and feed it to the far end of the East stand through the pa system. It's either that or grow bigger lungs.

Noise doesn?t carry well, and also club doesn?t do what a lot of other clubs do in terms on encouraging fans to congregate in certain areas to create at atmosphere so you end up with groups in S3, S5 and W7 now

Filling in the corners, safe standing, or designated areas, North or W7 as they have empty areas would be best, designed for fans who want to stand / get behind the side together would help. Our atmosphere can be good, but only for the big games, for the run of the mill stuff it?s usually pretty poor

Name me a ground where the atmosphere is famed for being great for run if the mill games?

There?s plenty in my rounds with work that are decent / have full ends who make noise regardless of game - Boro, Leeds, Palace, Ipswich, Portsmouth, Derby have all been good recently and they certainly weren?t big games

If clubs get behind it there?s plenty have proved they can make it work

Probably Anfield, they'd be in fine voice if the first team were playing Old Road junior school.

Anfield is awful contrary to popular belief

I went twice last year, one for a standard league game and the other for a European game and they were worlds apart. But the league game was far worse than anything we serve up against Salford, Cheltenham, Walsall etc

Interesting list of grounds and fan base sizes you compare Town against.

Anyway, there's too many in the Kop who dont wear colours, let alone join in chants. A good starting point, imho, would be for the Club to make it a T&C that entry is dependent on wearing the club's royal blue. Like Dortmund does with it's Yellow Wall.

I'd even rename the South Stand as the "Blue Kop" to re-inforce it.

I've been a few times from 1972 onwards, and I've always thought the noise was phenomenal.

They also have 3/4/5x the number of people in them.

So does the Emirates, Anfield, Etihad etc and by and large they are Bunkum week in week out

Nothing to do with numbers, it?s to do with having a proper end, the club encouraging people to congregate and facilitating that and their being people who want to get engage and be part of it

Plenty of examples of lower league clubs, smaller clubs with organised support that create good noise. Aldershot, St Mirren, Motherwell, Oxford, Bradford etc

It can be done, it?s just never been encouraged by the club or organised. The first sign of something appearing that was slightly different was the emergence of numbers in W7 which the club shut down by blocking off large portions of the stand for general admission purchase, prevent ST holders moving their seats into that area etc.

The Club could facilitate greater opportunities, but IMHO 50% of the Kop still wouldn't engage.

Worst thing thats happened atmosphere wise is that end block congregating and singing completely different songs or out of sync to the centre. At least sing the same song? They just do what they want and one always drowns out the other.

They need to get on board with whatever the centre block is singing and or do nothing altogether as singing out of sync kills it and singing different chants makes no sense and kills it.

Who made the centre block the ones in charge? Why can?t the end block be in charge?

At Saltergate the top choir leaders were in the centre behind the goal at the back and we all sang as one together. Barry Watson was our leader.

S5 is the only other section of the ground that tries to get something going when it?s quiet.

There's about 15, or so, at back of S1 that try to get things going. Often prompting Yogi to start banging.

I'm in S1.

When we chant supportive songs, I'll always join in.

When we chant crap at the opposing fans/team, or at Mansfield or the Sheffield clubs, I don't.

When we chant foul and/or offensive songs, I don't.

I leave all that rubbish to our "ultras".

Doesn't leave that many for me, and others like me, to join in with the "S3 ultras", does it?
