Exactly. Been to plenty of below 2000 attendances at Saltergate.

One or two during the Randall years I think?

Last time;

38 28 March 2000 Bury H 0-1 1,903

That season we only had half a dozen above 3000 and that was when the away following was 1000+.

First one I remember was around 1900 at home to Bristol Rovers, Aug/Sep 1982. This tiny gate sent a shockwave through my teenage body.One of a number of low points that year. Less than two years earlier, I'd witnessed over 17k against Barnsley. The elasticity of demand seemed much more then than it does now, thank goodness!

Average attendance at Saltergate in 80?s 90?s and 00?s was around 4500, anything above 5 was considered good. Having said that in the 69/70season and a few seasons after was much higher on a par with what we get now.

I think Bournemouth used to have three sides - only - from memory
The question of 'growth' is always an interesting one. Do you expand before you reach the promised land or after you've arrived there?

They built a 3 sided ground rapidly in 2001 on the original site and then built a cheapo stand in 2013 (?) to make it 4 sided after winning promotion to the Championship.

Bournemouth are a really poor example as their situation is unique with a mega monied mystery Russian owner. They could have been at the old Dean Court (a bit like Saltergate) and still achieved what they did with his squad building money. As DiFH said the new American owner has promised to build a new 18000 stadium along side the existing one. No idea how this is progressing as I don't think they own the land that the existing stadium sits on or the proposed one for that matter.

This will be their 10th year in and around the Premiership with a sub 12,000 capacity stadium

67 / 68 we had some big crowds.

I think the only time we would potentially expand the ground would if we have a sustained spell in the Championship. That is how far away it is.

What a couple of years away.
