Blimey imagine the tirade Jacobs would get if he hadn't played well since we signed him, scoring goals and getting promoted! The mind boggles.
A scapegoat when everything seems to be going well is surely a contradiction in terms ?! Some people are never happy

On the subject of lester it made me watch that Rotherham game again, his feet for that first goal were unreal sits a Rotherham player on his backside slips inside ? pure, think it was right foot left foot header, I do miss having a player like him that gets you off your seat

Pity there isn?t some footage of some of Rod Fern?s goals. He singly handed saved us from relegation in 78-79 with many a solo goal.

That is my favourite ever goal. It was both incredibly skilful and very clever. I had a perfect view of it from the Kop, just to the right of the goal. After Sir Jack dumped the first defender on his backside, he drew the second defender across the goal, unbalanced him with a little shimmy, then cleverly curled an early shot with his left foot round the defender and into the top corner while the Rotherham player was partially unsighting his own keeper. I'm sure JL had the whole manoeuvre in his head as soon as he ran onto the pass (from Danny Whittaker), and it was an absolutely brilliant demonstration of Jack's intelligence, skill and composure.

Don?t forget that night was very low temperatures and the defence couldn?t turn and recover for toffee.
A brilliant display all round culminating in the sack for King Ronnie.
