It was also the correct thing to do. Their lad was clear of Gordon and he was quick. Gordon wasn?t catching him so he?d have had a clear run on goal. Boot hesitated for a fraction of a second and that was the difference. No hesitation and he boots it in the stand and we probably win 1:0. Extremely fine margins but it happens.

It is strange what angles do. In real time and from the other end of the pitch I thought Boot and the defender hesitated and then Boot miss kicked. On the highlights it was clear Gordon was no where near and Boot made more contact with defender than the ball after his moments hesitation.

On't wireless, somebody said that Gordon slowed down intentionally cos he computed that Boot could easily reach the ball first. Boot then unfathomably hesitated. He still had time to make contact though and take their man out. He must have taken his eye off the ball.

Or was the sun in his eyes, just watched highlights and the ball seemed to drop sharply has it bounced, but Gordon was found wanting.

Gordon may have been beaten on it, though I wouldn't hugely blame him. The goal happened because Boot came out a long way and got it wrong.

Interesting. Not in my eyes. Do you think his intentional slow down was bad decision making?

Boot hesitated , he made a mistake, probably because Gordon was there, if it had been just their player he wouldn?t have

I thought that about the bounce. To me, it looked like the second bounce dropped slightly short and threw Boots timing off for the kick.

Would a more sh*thouse keeper have taken the player out and taken a red in exchange for stopping the goal? At the time I thought he was fortunate that he didn?t clatter the player as he would have been off.

It's a bit ironic but 3 of the 4 goals we've conceded, the start of the move or whatever has been in the same area of the pitch. Perhaps Barbaras could do some form of exorcism.

We came within a whisker of conceding in the last minute against Cheltenham, in a situation that was nigh on identical to the goal we conceded at P/V. That is, nobody anywhere near competing for the second ball after a centre circle power tussle between our CH and their CF for a high ball. Fundamental stuff for a defensive CM player.

The save yesterday was top draw, and proof it was needed that he's worthy of his place in the team..

Like boot honest as the day comes and clear great experience. I can?t help but think though because of his size this may be his ceiling. Hope I?m wrong. Also think you?ll see some games where Thompson plays purely because there?s something in the loan deal about playing games.

Northampton fans were disappointed when Thompson went back to Newcastle as he was playing well in league one. Can't see him not getting a chance here.
Here we go again!

For me. Boot is quick to react, positioning is spot on and commands his area when needed.
Only negative is that he has no leap on him whatsoever which is highlighted by the long range goals that if he could leap would most probably get a hand on. Great shot stopper though and more than happy to have him in our net.
Life goes on. Whatever happens.

I think he'd have to be a dikc to do so in onky the 53rd minute, with plenty of time left, and the ability, to score again.

Also, i think he'd have to be absolutely certain of returning to the team once he'd served his ban.

If Ryan ckntinues pjaying as he has to date, I can only see Thompson getting a L2 game, or two, towards back end of the regular season.

He had is worst game of the season last night in tricky conditions, he has to get back to his best if he wants to be our no.1 keeper. Stop partying about in our box with our defence especially in wet conditions.

Think he needs a rest personally and wouldn?t surprise me if there?s something in Thompsons deal about playing

I don't agree.

IMHO, Ryan either needs to start on Saturday, or be dropped. Most certainly not rested. That gives the impression to him, that his place is secure upon him having been rested.

If he doesn't play he's not been 'rested', he's been dropped.

Just wondering about what the Grant Smith fan club thought about his little mistake that allowed Grigg to score his second goal at Bromley?
