Main disappointment for me is that we?ve given away 6 points to 3 poor sides at home who have literally come for a point, shut up shop early and either scored from a wonder goal or a mistake from us.

If we?d have lost to sides that played up off the park I?d probably be less bothered.

Agreed.

Not seen anything in this League that we can?t compete against. Difference is that in this division teams are more likely to punish us if we drop our level either defensively or missing good chances.

Paul Cooks interview showed some frustration with the crowd today but he must see what we do and is probably just as frustrated with players when they make mistakes.

We do have a number of inexperienced players but also some VERY experienced players.

Since we thrashed Crewe, which left them with no points after two games, they have drawn one and then won four in the bounce to leave them currently 7th.

Our time will come soon. Pity we have Donnie, Walsall and Notts County coming up in three of our next four games.

Little triangles? Colclough generally played on opposite sides of the pitch to Mandeville.

I always thought Colcough played his best when he and Horton were working together on the left.
Checked on Soccerbase, not always ultra reliable, but they state we won 10, drew 1 and lost 1 when they started together.

Agree and you can throw Dobra in there too. Thought Mandeville did well on the other side with less flare and a progressively flakey King.

Don't forget Bromley but if we get over that hump with a couple of wins and an odd point we should have set ourselves up. Won't please everyone though.

To make definitive statements about our prospects 7 games in when I doubt anyone thinks we have fielded our best team, it is truly staggering.

We have only been bested in one game Port Vale and arguably for a while against Grimsby and they are in and about us. We took Crewe to the cleaners and should have done the same to Gillingham. Both are now in the top 7.

Thought we should have won comfortably, Drummond misses that easy chance to make it 2-0 then the freak equaliser

Dobra has enough chances to get a hatrick

Colclough and Madden looked a class above and Fleck to come in.

The disappointing thing is, last years team looks good enough for promotion based on what we've seen so far (our games and those on Sky), however Cook seems to have decided we need a fresher, younger approach.. which will obviously take time to bed in and work

Markanday is fantastic and is possibly rightly keeping Mandeville out the team, but why oh why is Grimes not being given a chance at all!

With Oldaker out last week, it seemed perfect to bring Grimes back in and put Naylor back in Midfield, but he went with Metcalfe, and even despite young Jenson having a shocking game (amongst many others) last weekend, kept him in today!

This has now become too far a common occurrence, where by we start the season with a preferred midfield and then realise we need Jones in there, and we definitely need Naylor in there!

Excellent post. Not playing Naylor in midfield criminal. Metcalfe not for me.

Yesterday?s result was a bad one, but I?m very much a glass half full still. 7 games in and we?ve outplayed 6 of the 7, without even clicking into gear yet (Crewe aside).
I think this league is still there for the taking and I?m calling a top 3 finish if us fans can be patient and stay with the team. The next 5 are really tough fixtures on paper so we must remain patient and back the players - after those 5, I can see a long unbeaten run as things really click into gear. Stay on the journey lads and lasses.

With a better rub of the green yesterday we win that match, the chances were there. I think we are close to getting the right balance too. Drop Araujo in for Naylor, push him into the middle with Fleck. It's the front 4 that's awkward, too many permutations.

Didn't someone say they saw Grimes in a walking boot at the end of the game? Perhaps he's picked up an ankle injury so that's why he's wasn't even in the matchday squad let alone starting?

Yes someone did say that. It would be good to get clarity on that one.

It was me, he definitely had some sort of contraption on one leg at the end of the game.

Too much bull about consolidating for three years

Think PC has got it in his head that Naylor is playing at CB and that's that leaving no room Grimes. I'd like to see Grimes back in contention for a starting lineup. He might change his mind after today as Naylor gave us some drive coming forward with the ball. I think all these loanees has confused his thinking. We'll see what happens now Colclough, Madden and hopefully Grigg are back in and around the squad.

Colclough showed in his short time what we?ve missed. As much as Berry and Markanday are decent options Colclough offers something slightly different. Alongside Naylor and Dobra he?s in our best 3 players for me.

that's fair enough then, I'd have still gone for Araujo over Metcalfe yesterday after what happened at Port Vale

I just worry we have another Tyrer situation where Everton have insisted Metcalfe play in the majority of games, and whilst I'm sure the lad will come good and I want him to succeed, presently we have better options there

Thought Metcalfe was decent yesterday. Lots more to come from him considering it?s been his first few games in men?s football
