Reasonably sensible suggestion, unlike some!

We need ball players for this game. They will park the bus. Araujo in defence, Naylor back into midfield with DJ. Mandeville down the right, markanday left, berry up top

Seem to be a lot of folk jumping to the conclusion that Berry can play up front....

Not sure it's jumping to a conclusion Jon, more like we're looking like we have no fit strikers and he's probably the most striker-esque player we have bar Drummond, who obviously has question marks over him as we've not seen much of him. The prospect of Berry up front against a packed defence does not excite me but options are limited.

I can't see why he can't.
I'm sure he was touted as a winger who can play striker.
As long as folk don't think he can be play the 6'9 hold up striker and more of the run the channels on to through balls - he should be an OK makeshift striker ( also helps knowing where the net is too, which he does)

I went with Naylor back in Midfield but think the fact Cook left him at centre half against Vale means thats the partnership he's going for

I'd go with that too, although whether it's Drummond or Berry up top it certainly feels far short of what is needed so will need the 3 behind really pushing on.

I'm hoping either Fleck or Madden, or both, are fit enough to be on the bench and to get a few minutes in the legs too.

So, you said we looked solid with the natural right footer, Williams, at Lincoln why have you chosen a left footer instead of him.

In a back three, my three would be Williams Dunkley & Aroujo.

Because Williams isn't good enough according to a lot on here. We've played 2 left footers as centre backs before why not 3

Boot
Tanton Dunkley Araujo Gordon
DJ Naylor
Mandeville Dobra Berry
Drummond (Madden if fit)

Would be my team.

I think Naylor will remain at the back though and I think we?ll see DJ and Banks back in the middle together. Which I don?t actually mind, especially at home / against teams that aren?t a foot bigger than us in every position.

Just a few things what are bothering me :
Our best midfielder is playing at the back.
Our other bit of muscle Grimes can't get on the bench let alone back in defence.

It might he a case of putting Naylor back in midfield and start with Araujo at CB and put Grimes on the bench to use as and when required - bit more strength, hight, extra defender at the death ect

Despite Stockley absolutely ragging Tom?

That reverse pass be pulled off at Vale with one of his first touches was our best attacking move of the day. Cannot remember who it was that should have been on the end of it but they just weren?t switched on at all and had they been, we?d have been in.

He'd be back in the team beside Dunkley if I picked the side, because I think we're missing Tom Naylor in midfield. I'd play Banks behind the striker, because I think, not only is that his best position, but he's also one of the best centre mids in the squad. I'm not sure who to play up top if Will Grigg's out, I wonder if Tyrone Williams fancies a go at being our new target man 😂.

As the game takes place 22 hrs and 17 minutes before the Autumn Equinox, a traditional Pagan harvest celebration of Mabon, the SPIRITES should choose players with the numbers 22 and 17.
Such numbers will maximise the waning power of the Sun and create extra Cosmic Energy for the SPIRITES.
All SPIRITES can then hold their own Mabon festivities outside the SIM stadium, to ensure maximum POSITIVITY for the rest of the SPIRITES season.
Peace and Universal Joy to all SPIRITES.

I think a lot of posters are making the mistake of assuming we are seen in the same light as last season I.e a team to park the bus against at our place. That appears to be a mistaken impression judging by the way Grimsby piled forward from the first whistle, and could, with better finishing, have been 3 up in the first 15 minutes. Many teams will come here and attack us, and Cheltenham could well be one of them according to the Cheltenham journalist commenting on the main site regarding their style of play. Teams in this League will not necessarily sit back, so we have to alter our style and outlook accordingly. I personally would like to see Grimes back in central defence with Naylor in midfield because that would probably give us more midfield control plus the considerable threat Naylor poses going forward. Although we appear to be without a credible CF, we have the ability to hit forward-pressing teams on the counter-attack. Against Vale we got nowhere because our passing was uncharacteristically sloppy, so it has got to sharpen up on Saturday.
