Oh yes, and teams who'd eat the old Wimbledon crazy gang for breakfast. Teams like Bradford Park Avenue, Barrow, and Workington Town.

Those clubs are from era as that lovely team from Leeds. It is hard to believe the likes of Stanley Bowles, Frank Worthington, Tony Currie ever stood a chance. Same all the way down the league system.

Top signing on a one year deal. Doesn?t matter about his age the first yards in the head, I suspect we won?t be seeing teams run through us at will anymore. Top 3 looks a good shout

The front 4 are pretty interchangable, with not a lot to choose between them. I wouldn't be surprised to see Madden play as 10 behind Grigg.

In theory we have a real strength in depth and cover in 'most' places.

Paul was a great player, and you can add Geoff Salmons,Len Badger, and even though he was only there a year, Sir Jack Lester. Many more over the years, but certainly those four must be up there.

John Matthews, Kevin Arnott, Mick Henderson - great players in the 1980s

1st XI
Boot
Tanton Naylor Dunks Gordon
Fleck Metcalfe
Markandy Dobra Colclough
Grigg

2nd XI
Thompson
Campbell Williams Grimes Araujo
Banks DJ
Mandy Jacobs Berry
Madden

Miss out
Jones, Drummond, Hobson, Horton, Palmer, Shecks, Cook, Ali

I'm looking at the bigger picture of strength in depth across every position in the team.

With what we have to pick from now I wouldn't raise an eyebrow with squad rotation in most games

A month ago, he was training with Rangers and dreaming of a return there.

Geoff Salmons was the classiest I can think of and came in a day when top tier footballers often dropped a few divisions but like others mentioned didn't come directly. Len Badger certainly did and he did well but the outstanding player who came directly from the Urinals was Tom Fenoughty, what a player.

We don?t agree on much but in this case I do

Solid signing. 1 year deal. Hopefully with an element of pay as you play built in. At 33 could easily earn another year if it works out

Is the SPL a better level, even if your at rangers/celtic.. ??

Other than the UEFA comps ( if they're in them) they're still playing against bog average players week in week out.
all we are saying, is give us ...a goal, or 2+

I think this signing means Madden will definitely play alongside Grigg if not to replace him at times to surprise the opposition. Can?t fault Grigg for his work rate but he?s a bit predictable and gets bullied by the defenders with his lack of mobility and height. We need an element of surprise and that?s what we can get from Madden with what is now a very overcrowded midfield.

The flair players did flourish though along with a few knocks along the way 😁.

Be real. It was a lucky bounce which their defender failed to clear. Grigg was nowhere near scoring from a fantastic cross begging to be buried. By the time he gathered it he had his back to the goal just creating a nuisance and at best waiting for a run from our players which never came. On a separate incident it could be argued with a bit more pace he should have rounded the keeper from that superb pass from Berry in the 2nd half. Personally I think Madden would have gobbled up this type of chance. Running onto a ball ( a real attribute of Madden which anyone can see from previous Stockport games) is simply not his territory and I get the impression he?s not getting any faster off the mark. Good target man but how many goals as a CF will he score this season?

To be debated

It's going to be very difficult for opposition managers to second guess our lineup, because change won't weaken us.
