Fleck is an unbelievable signing for us. In the past we've had some fantastic ex Sheffield United players over the years, and I know he hasn't come directly from the Lane, but I hope he slots right in. Whether it's Tom Naylor or one of the other midfielders he teams up with, this will be a real upgrade.

Paul Holland probably the best signing from Sheff U for me, added bonus that it made the Scabs cry!

If Fleck has a similar impact as Holland I?ll be very happy!

Short is definitely appropriate.
God I hate this league.

Tbh I think we will see Naylor stay at centre back with Dunks.

I would imagine eventually our midfield duo will be Flecks and Metcalfe. Maybe not straight away but as we get into the season, as long as both are fit I feel like that?s the plan.

Gives us an extremely strong spine by the looks of things with a box of, Dunks, Naylor, Fleck, Metcalfe.

May not agree totally with two XIs but both look pretty strong - think it would be a good contest2

Think aside from a Quigley replacement type striker its a very good squad with some good depth in areas.

Paul was a great player, and you can add Geoff Salmons,Len Badger, and even though he was only there a year, Sir Jack Lester. Many more over the years, but certainly those four must be up there.

Feels like we have been shopping at Harrods. I shudder when I think of the Martin Allen Poundland budget. How times have changed

Warfey, Geoff Salmons was a class act. My blade loving brother used to drag me over to watch the really good teams they had in the 60s to early to mid 70s when town weren't at home or too far for me to travel. For me, he was one of the best midfield players of his generation.

Geoff Salmons was the classiest I can think of and came in a day when top tier footballers often dropped a few divisions but like others mentioned didn't come directly. Len Badger certainly did and he did well but the outstanding player who came directly from the Urinals was Tom Fenoughty, what a player.

Oh yes, and teams who'd eat the old Wimbledon crazy gang for breakfast. Teams like Bradford Park Avenue, Barrow, and Workington Town.

Salmons at 33 was probably the best ever left footer I have ever seen in a blue shirt

Yes Tom was a great player and came directly, but I was talking ex United players, not just those like Tom and Len Badger who came directly. We really have had some very decent players who have played for United.

The front 4 are pretty interchangable, with not a lot to choose between them. I wouldn't be surprised to see Madden play as 10 behind Grigg.
