Sorry, to be more clear- who's place does he take?
Let's be honest, Fleck is probably a different level to what we have. At a guess, he'd probably be a top earner ( if not the top one) so would be financially silly for him to not be starting - if you see what i mean.

What his earnings would be is what we are prepared to pay him and if that is not better than the zero level he is currently on then he can stew.

Cannot see any reason at all as to why we should break the bank and make him our top earner.

If he wants to sign for a couple of grand a week until the end of the season, that's fine. He should have made his money at Sheffield United in the Premier League.

Allegedly ?20k a week at Blackburn....

Now at 33, you'd imagine he would be happy to take something similar to Grigg and Naylor.... especially as he still has to prove he has recovered from the injuy that limited appearances at Blackburn.

It seems fairly likely he will sign reading between the lines. Living in Sheffield, it should be an arrangement that suits him.

It could be one of those deals if he?s up to it where it?s length of deal as much as weekly wage that swings it.

Here is one of those player reels- adverts- of his play. Three years old mind

I have been looking for some highlights of Metcalfes play. I am hoping for a lot from him as the season develops.

The problem is has he even played in the last three years since that video? Also whoever made it has used a picture on John Lundstram instead of Fleck so for that reason alone i?ve not watched it

I agree about Metclafe, I think he’ll play a big part this season.

He may have been on even more than that at Rangers. And if he was on ?20k at Blackburn for 17 minutes of 1 game they are crazy!

To be hoped its merely a pay as you play deal given his recent history.

His fitness etc is something they will have assessed while he?s training with us.

Also Cookie etc will be assessing his attitude, hunger, and willingness to buy into our philosophy. No Billy big bullocks here, times have changed.
Agree on comments on Metcalfe he looks a talent.

He was injured in his debut so it?s not something Blackburn could really do anything about.

I don't think they planned it for him to get injured on his debut.

Well if the rumoured 8k a week he would like is true,* I would imagine its a know thanks from us?
But a wage is better than no income so we shall see.

If that kind of daft money is being thrown about, I'd be giving Metcalfe a chance instead.
No point in signing him otherwise

?4k per week on a contract ending June 30th 2027 was the rumour floating from a few I know close to the club. Club are wanting to bring it down weekly and reduce it by a season.

A three year contract would be madness imo.
