If it?s 60k we?ve robbed them.

Surely we?re accepting Quigley has been moved on rather than us getting an offer we couldn?t refuse

Not sure how you ?move on? a player to another club, especially for a fee. FGR must have been interested in him and made an approach.

It's entirely possible that one reason Phil K travelled up is to have the final say on how much we would pay Joe to help him out of the door.

So, the squad set off at noon for Essex. I wonder what the arrangements are for fielding any more enquiries/bids?

You call up the manager/chairman and say *do you want this fella. We?d be prepared to let him go for x.*
I?ll still be amazed if it was anywhere near 60k.
Other wise the alternative is that they?ve called us and negotiated with us until we couldn?t afford to say no. Quigley was a worker. But we always look weaker when he plays regardless of the cult status which was born out of people being desperate for him to score when he was low on confidence and not playing well.
he was blatantly one of the players on a list to be moved on along with you?d expect people like Horton, Hobson and Sheckleford once he?s fit

Makes sense Quigleys from that area. Recently had a kid?. Works for all parties.

FGR just signed Cardwell for over 100k too so they are seriously splashing the cash down there if they paid anywhere near 60 for Quigs.

It would have to have been a decent fee for us to allow him to leave considering we?ve only got 1 other fit senior striker surely?

Rather than taking sides on the good and the bad of a loyal player who always did his best both on and off the pitch why not turn our attentions to what we now are left with -

(1) Grigg who is getting no younger and needs substituting around the 70 minute mark

(2) Madden who is older than Grigg and currently injured

(3) Drummond who is a willing runner, lightweight, and untried at this level or even the one below

(4) Berry who some suggest could do the job but has not played a single minute in that position under Cook

Such a list suggests we are well short of what might be required so is it not possible that we will have at least one more signing before 11pm?

I read it was down to us and Grimsby for brown. Though this could depend on Derby getting somebody in though.

Not many peeps from anywhere all summer until an hour or 2 before any announcements are made. Not a bad thing though I suppose
Here we go again!

How appropriate that Mnoga has signed for Salford. Him and Tilt together. Hmmm.

If we don't get someone in to replace Quigley then getting rid will be a mistake. Can't believe we won't though. Presumably the powers that be have stayed at the club even if the squad have travelled.

Even if we don't there will still be time to get an out of contract player in - although the pool might be small and muddy.

There might well be, but considering he?s gone to a team not restricted by transfer windows it would have made more sense to get the new signing in first? Just in case anything breaks down

The opposite could be said too.

If we had brought in the replacement first then the Quigley move broke down we would have been left with both players on our hands.

I will be shocked and disappointed if we don't sign a forward before the deadline (unless we've an unattached player lined up).
