I am so not concerned by this ongoing keeper situation. Boot is fine and if we get somebody better or at a similar level to compete then great. Anyone else not overly arsed?

I'd like us to get it sorted just to stop some folk getting so flustered about it to be honest plus it would be nice to get someone in should something happen to Boot. Like you say its not as desperate as some folk are making out and i doubt the management team are scrabbling around unable to find anyone.

Plus plenty of PL third and fourth choice keepers.

Only problem with that is the loaning team may want him playing no matter what.

bed wetters need something to wet the bed about!

some posts on here are ridiculous, same as Dallas situation? Everton have messed us about? Absolute nonsense!

not worried at all about the keeper situation, we have a decent goalie, we'll look to bring in another - if we don't there are always ways to sort something if something did happen to Boot

I can't quite believe that given the time from where Tyrer went back to Everton to present day ( 5 games in - Inc Cup Games) that we haven't signed a 2nd senior keeper and potentially could be over an agents barrel if we want a particular stopper.
I wonder what terms were offered to Blackman for him to turn us down.
It absolutely smacks of hanging in for Tyrer which is a dangerous game, because we could have snared A.N.Other and had a settled keeper in instead of what's left kicking around looking for a job.
If the rumour that Holy is training with us and also that Tyrer is in advanced talks with Blackpool are true, I'd be offering Holy terms straight away or be dropping Blackman another call
And if Blackmans rumoured wage request was ?4k a week you would have signed him?

Bringing in a number two behind boot won't be that hard to complete. The chances of Tyrer coming back went out of my head a few weeks ago When we offered a contract to the loan goalie. There are some decent keepers in the National League who wouldn't command a massive wage, and then there's going to be some without a club too. I'd say finding another striker would be ten times harder, if that's the other incoming.

Wow - be prepared or prepare to fail.

Heres a scenario:-
Boot gets cut in half 10mins into Gillingham away
*in a gruff scouse accent*
Oli, warm up son and grab Boot's gloves- he'll not be needing them now.
You'll only have to see out the last 80mins plus injury time out today, but I might have someone lined up next week. Prob an inexperienced 18yr old from the Prem. See out it works out.

I've beaten the drum regarding a 2nd keeper and if some folk think it's OK not to have another senior keeper on the books/bench/Tesco car park...well that's up to them to think it's OK, until it's not.
*tips hat* Good day to you

5 pages of out of contract keepers we could sign after the window closed should we need to....
https://www.transfer...t=alle&yt0=Show

That said i can see it being a loan from a higher league club to be honest and that doesnt have to mean it comes with all the stipulations about have to play etc. Cook and co will know what they want to do and wont be forced into something they dont want to do.

I just trust our excellent manager and our #BloatedBackroomStaff to deal with the situation in the best possible way tbh

If following the scenario-
3 point down the bin and an inexperienced keeper with a question mark over his head who could cost us points.
Could be a season destroyer missing out on promotion/play off by a handful of points

Hypothetical of course...

Boot might not ever get injured or have a bad run of form and we can finish the season just using one keeper 😉

We absolutely do need another keeper. But I think the club are clearly working on it, and will get us the best option they can within the parameters of what's possible. I'd only be worried if they were saying we only need one keeper, but they're not. We'll have someone in.

I posted on here other week with that OOC/ transfer list and had a look at keepers - there's loads. I then narrowed it down to a players realistic worth/value (actually used Blackmans listed value to give some sort of perspective) and it spat out only a short list. If memory serves me right, most were in the footballing twilight years 35-37 and a couple who were about a decent age. One being Blackman the other was Holy. There may have been another youth but not sure.
So to sum up, there are alot of available keepers on the list but if we had acted quicker, we wouldn't find ourselves in place where we now possibly have to pay over the odds (rumoured 4K for Blackman) or have a raw youngster from a higher division (don't even mention Tyrer being 'raw youngster' and it working out as he's had 2 seasons of men's football).
Again if Holy is rumoured to be training with us and he's not wanting silly money, he ticks the boxes in my eyes - get him signed up before his agent finds him another club and our options are even less

100% this. Sometimes reading this board makes my head ache with the stuff people come out with. Like all social media Bobs Board is just as bad for half baked nonsense theories as the likes of Twitter and Facebook. I?m convinced that social media will be the downfall of civilisation. That?s my half baked nonsense theory anyway.

Players currently out of contract will possibly be getting itchy feet about where there next pay cheque is coming from. They either sign for an EFL club by Friday, remain a free agent, or sign for a NL club later. Common sense might come into play and they will be getting on their agents backs to sort things out. So, I do not see that Cook will be over any agents barrel.

Blackman turned us down. We do not know his wage demands. However, we do know he still has not found a club which has made him an offer acceptable to him.
