When you wave good bye to the NL and it's horrendous officiating but then find that L2 refs are just as appalling.
So, a few games in - do we think the refs are any better?
Me personally, I think the ones we've had uo to now have been on a par with NL.
Almost to the point that it seems tbe refs got promoted with us!

Not defending referees but haven?t fans perceptions of them is that they have always been crap? At least that?s my perception in nigh on 60 years of watching town. Can remember coming away from matches in the 79s & 80?s moaning about the refs.
Of course one difference today is that the bloody Premier League have reputedly snaffled the best refs whereas in the good old days before the PL a ref would ref through all 4 divisions. Not sure the PL refs are actually any better but then they have the dubious assistance of VAR

He lost the plot yesterday and the 4th official was no better. Robinson continually had a tantrum at him throughout - if that was cook he would have been booked in an instant

Said on the match thread, what happened to players not having to go off the pitch if the opponent was booked? Happened twice

Yesterday's ref was the same one in our 3-2 win over solihull last year, I believe. So your assumptions seem to be correct!

Beginning to think there has been a rule change for this season where referees are not allowed to award us a penalty

Correct, Cook only gets booked after a perceived cock up by officials, not for blatant intimidation trying to sway future decisions as was Robinsons mandate.

Anyone witnessing Saturdays antics would agree Cook would have been cautioned (with gusto)but why not book Robinson
Do refs subconsciously pay Cook more attention to what they see as transgressions than they do others. Is it some form of badge of honour for them at their refs meetings?
Sitting close to the dugouts I watch the double standards with hilarity.

I strongly suspected that would be the case with the theatrical gesture he gave when the game kicked off.

These days, it's a novelty when we get a decent ref, but there are a few left. I think that, on Saturday, Salford should have been shown, at least, three red cards for tackles that could have seen our injury list grow exponentially. Their manager should have been off after 25 minutes with his attitude towards the forth official and the constant time-outs.

It was obvious that he coached his players to have a lie down several times in the first half to the point it became comical. Simply so he could give them a team talk, I suppose he thinks it is game management. I call it time wasting. Thank goodness they didn't score first as it would have been worse.

No wonder there weren't many away fans if that's the style of play they're seeing week in week out.
We didn't play well at all but I certainly think the officials spoilt the game because they allowed Salford to get away with murder. Dobra, Berry, Banks and Grigg could have all been on the treatment table for lengthy periods. If Paul Cook had done what their manager did throughout the game, he'd have been on a ban now.

There's taking momentum out of the game, there's frustrating the opposition by getting the game stopped but there shouldn't be any time wasting if the fools in charge played the correct 90 minutes.
What happened to the post world cup trend when the correct added time was added?, it makes a mockery of the present none time keeping. The 5 added at h/t was abysmal and sent out all the wrong messages
