Plenty of positives definitely

Full backs look great acquisitions, Dunkley looked solid

Less positives, the ref was dire - 2 big decisions wrong, the penalty and then not showing their 5 a 2nd yellow for scithing Berry down on the wing

We missed Naylor in CDM, so we need a CB pronto. Thought Jacobs looked off it. Atmosphere second half was poor, Friday night, at home, kicking towards the Kop, should have been rocking

Not sure how we?ve managed to sign Gordon he looks class

A big decision in that it was wrong or right??if both fit Mandy starts every day of the week over Jacobs imo

Mandy would always get in my 11. Perhaps he had a twinge.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on

A plus for Oldaker last night. Won as many tackles as he probably did all last season. Unfortunately not for the goal though. Still, it looks like he has been told to step up to the mark with that side of his play and he, on the whole, delivered.

Oldaker was very tenacious . Thoughts banks was great. I just don?t think they can play together.

He didn't have a lot to do defensively but I thought the our Texan Columbian looked like he has plenty in the tank and lots of class.

Dunkley was a much needed replacement for Maguire according to Sky commentator

Personally I would start Mandy ahead of Jacobs, but I think Cook prefer the Grigg Jacobs combo. Could there be case to slot Mandy in next to Naylor in midfield ?

DJ had a good game, one of his best for us.

He's a player who has the ability to do much more in a game than he does at times, I thought he did that last night.

I wonder how many of the 72 this weekend won't have a goalkeeper amongst their 7 subs?

How?s that not a pen?

Cooks first booking of the season incoming

Just a thought but ...... could Cookie get a kinda booking season ticket, so that he's automatically pre-booked every game? It'd save the ref the bother

I tend to agree Tim. Though in terms of salary cap financially it would be a bit blow to have 2 senior players either sat on the sidelines, loaned out when fit or contract paid up. It would also be very harsh on them as if fit both would feature....conundrum for both Cook and the men in charge of the budget!

I don?t see it as a conundrum.

If neither are going to be fit within 3 months then there is only 4 full months left before the next transfer window in January.

As such, why would anybody name a player in their 22 man squad when that player might not be fit enough for selection?

From the point of view of the player their first target is to overcome their injury, then start training and get match fit so that they are strong enough to challenge for a place in the match day squad. If a short spell out on loan to a NL club helps them achieve that it is both to the benefit of the club and player.

It was more a penno than the 'stonewall' one that Leeds got. A very decent performance with the new lad from the US looking very good indeed at fullback. More of that kind of performance and we should be in the top half, maybe top ten, maybe even better come next May.

It?s all about opinions but I thought when Swindon pressed us for the first 20 mins of the second half, their no.8 bullied him and he looked really vulnerable.

He wasn?t strong or positive enough on a couple of occasions and I was surprised when Swindon, and their no8, seemed to drop off again after the equaliser.

Should see the one Oliver Langford gave Pompey in the 91st minute shocking and if Var had been in place it would never have stood how the inconsistency across the leagues is awful with no repercussions

😂😂😂, if you're going to get booked though, it may as well be for a stonewall penalty that I could see from 50yds away, but the ref missed from a few yards away. He certainly didn't need opera glasses to see that one. I think the ref bottled it, because for me the tackle was reckless and dangerous, which would have meant a red card. Very poor from the officials.

Well it?s only been one game and he has played centre half 3 times and we have conceded 1 goal, can?t actually blame midfielders as they are not exactly looking out for the centre half, only Jacobs tracked back but it looked half hearted to me

He covers more ground than any player on the pitch from the midfield position, he was doing his best to get forward from the back yesterday, but he controls the game from centre mid, they were very little threat, and we defended pretty well other than the goal, and yes jacobs should have put more effort in, or at least brought him down.
