Exactly, this time of year is always a hit on crowds with folk away etc. Add in it being on TV and moved to a Friday night and it will add up to folk not being able to make it but the fact its not that long ago we saw 8000 as a massive crowd says a lot.

I suppose to a mature pallet favouring real ale the only discernible difference of the two mentioned lagers would be the spelling and the price.

Word had gone round for a few days before that someone had been up one of the towers for a laugh and messed about with the lights. The club gave free admission the following day. Word of that reached Swindon and their away following trebled overnight!

Ha blimey I do vaguely remember this. I was too young to go to the Friday night game (basically my dad wanted a night in boozer after the game).
Was overjoyed next day to find out the game was on and it was free !
I'm saying 1986 ish ?

I do remember Phil Tingay having to get the tools out once after them failing, but that game went ahead that evening. The game you're talking about Warfey, I couldn't get to because I was on nights, and knew nothing about it being arranged for the following day.
