Does this mean then that I can switch to the local BBC radio live commentary for nowt for the time that 1866 coverage is behind the firewall? (Not summat I'd do but I'm just trying to understand what's happening).

If we're being covered then yes.

Just told my elderly neighbour who tuned into every game. He wasn?t too pleased. Said he?d never dream of paying. 1866 was an offer to the wider community who possibly can?t afford it, disability, age, confidence stops them from attending.

Utter disgrace in my eyes I?m afraid

I don't disagree but to be fair it sounds like this beyond the club's control.

One very useful thing is the ability to pay for individual matches which I dont believe iFollow allows, I can see a great deal of fans on holiday or business making use of this.

The full season pass is very reasonable again in comparison to iFollow and I'm sure international users will make use of this and I hope it will be a good revenue stream for the club.

On a completely independent and separate note if people need help / advice with VPN set up please ask.
Guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!

Do you mean how to use a VPN for getting Sky's UK only broadcasts when i'm abroad?

Only if radio sheff are covering us fully with live commentary which in the main they won?t be.

So you don't think all the other BBC radio stations will, in the main, cover our away matches in their local area?

So the Swindon game will that be on a club stream, I?m in Greece in that day so would be ideal if it is, 5 quid cheaper than a Now TV pass. As technically you shouldn?t be able to view Sky matches abroad I would hope it is on a stream.

So what if they are covering the game, you still won't be able to listen unless you in their broadcast range.

Unless Greek TV decide to show this you should be able to stream locally.

Excellent.
On the radio side could you not listen to the local channels online?

Not like the non league they aren't allowed to stream local commentary nationally.

From memory it?s the same annual cost I paid for NL coverage so chuffed. For other fans who may be on holiday abroad I doubt you?ll be able to tune in as I guess you need to register at a non UK address when you set up the deal. As for the ?sticks? etc I must admit I?ve never once been able to watch a non NL match without being obliged to pay despite lots of efforts and so I declined simply because I never trusted the provider either to keep my details confidential or because I wasn?t sure the service would be up to scratch. No doubt I?m a bit naive as far as getting around these obstacles but better to be safe than sorry.

I agree it?s a bummer for fans to have to pay for 1866, but I suppose at ?1 per match for league games it?s not that bad overall. After all it?s not the most annoying part of tuning in but that?s another matter?

??? Folk don't need a VPN in the UK for Sky transmissions. Do they? All our transmitted matches will be available through subscription through satellite or internet:

https://is.gd/SkyEFLsubscriptions

I think some may even be available thru' Nowtv.

Paying for 1866 is scandalous. It makes mockery of trying to make the club a community asset

They might but you won?t be able to listen online you?d have to be within the area to get it on an actual radio. Online coverage is locked to the clubs online offerings so you?d have to sign up to 1866 Sport or the other clubs offering.

The club don?t want to charge for it though?.they have no option to do it due to efl rules.

You won't pay for 1866. Unfortunately, it seems that they are unable to broadcast the match commentary for free due to EFL rules so that will be on a paid service whilst 1866 remains free and carries pre and post game shows.

Presumably they could have made it 10p a season just to comply.

That was my first question and my second question is, could the cost have been built into the price of a season ticket?

I see no point in having 1866 if you can't listen to The match. The pre and post match talk is oh so predictable

Does this mean I will have to pay to hear Ellie Yates keep saying ? Yeah, definitely? !
