Oh here we go again and here is me thinking you were concerned about international audiences  same old, same old [and repeat]

Same difference, the club makes it as hard as possible to support from afar in the UK and abroad. After a while it becomes tiresome.

I?ve taken the bull by the horns tonight and have just sent an email to the club. Fingers crossed the message will be taken into account

Any response or just the usual we pretend to care about the fans unless they ask about something we don't want them to know or care about?

Just so I'm clear. Are the club now charging for matchday 1866 commentary that was normally free of charge?

Yes. It has no choice.

However, I'm sure there'll be those who'll use Discord to receive it foc.

Yes but only because they have no choice and have to do it. 1866 will be free to air until kick off then again from the final whistle but the actual match time will be locked behind a paywall due to EFL regulations. From a Phil Tooley comment in reply to people on social media it seems the club tried to fight it as much as they could be they were not allowed to do free coverage no matter what.

Thanks for the explanation.

Utter ridiculous! The death of 1866 I fear. A service available to all now sucked up by the money men. What a shame

I think a lot will still listen to pre game and post game, i often used to on the way to and from games in the car, so i dont think it will die just yet.

Presumably they could have made it 10p a season just to comply.

The fact they havent makes me think the EFL set some sort of minimum pricing as well. I did think they could have just charged 1p for a season long pass and met the requirement.

It'll be interesting to hear 1866's view in a year's time. The lost advert revenue versus the revenue from subscriptions.

It might be a winner for them?

Just told my elderly neighbour who tuned into every game. He wasn?t too pleased. Said he?d never dream of paying. 1866 was an offer to the wider community who possibly can?t afford it, disability, age, confidence stops them from attending.

Utter disgrace in my eyes I?m afraid

Does this mean then that I can switch to the local BBC radio live commentary for nowt for the time that 1866 coverage is behind the firewall? (Not summat I'd do but I'm just trying to understand what's happening).
