If a game is being broadcast on CBS it might not be available via the international streaming in the US, this is supposition on my part as we just don't know what, if any, service is to be offered.

Supposition is correct. Clubs cannot stream matches to countries when it's being broadcast in that country

In theory when the CFC streaming service is set up, you should just need to register an account with a US address and just use the normal internet that you will access in Davenport. As you are in the US you will have a US IP address and not a UK one hence no VPN needed. If a game is being broadcast on CBS it might not be available via the international streaming in the US, this is supposition on my part as we just don't know what, if any, service is to be offered.

I notice tonight we are tinpotting again with Derby providing a stream and nothing from CFC. The international market is potentially huge and currently untapped, EFL football is becoming very popular abroad and yet so far we don't market or even offer a service there. We do have nice seats in the dug out though.

Guess it doesn't help when genuine fans are openly operating 'watch parties' with illegal streams, encouraging fans to go down the 'paid' route which ultimately benefits the club!

When I watch through other such links I always make the equivalent amount they normally charge to a charity. That way I feel that I am not altogether sponging off other outlets.

Most watch parties and illegal streamers are made up of UK based fans who cant make the match (don't get me started on how the club handles away allocations) and don't have a legitimate way of accessing the game. I'm sure most of those would much prefer to be supporting the club. As of right now there isn't a way to do that for even legitimate international streamers for home games. Our friend in Iowa can watch Barrow v Crewe but as of right now he has no way of watching CFC v Swindon (the game isn't being broadcast in the US). How is it a team like Barrow can be more clued up about technology?

I doubt it is more clued up. Perhaps Town simply doesn't want to stream matches, knowing that people will illegally stream them instead of attending. They'll have done the maths assumptions.

Furthermore, i recall that the commentator used to get loads of abuse for his volunteered services. Including from members of this very board.

Is this the link your referring to?

https://www.barrowafc.com/videos

Isn't it simply a legacy link to the ifollow service, which has been discontinued?

I can't find anything to support your claim that Barrow is transmitting its home match with Crewe on 10.8.23 to the USA, or anywhere else for that matter.

Not being confrontational, you may well be telling the truth, but I just can't see it.

Ifollow hasnt been discontinued for international streaming. Clubs are free to use whatever service they like.

You can literally buy the pass on the link you provide.

To be fair, having a legacy system in place makes it easier but it shows other clubs have something in place whereas CFC as of right now is complete radio silence.

Edit: Have just checked using a VPN connected to a Netherlands server and the cost of the streaming service is 210 Euros annually, be interesting to see how much the cost changes with different countries and currencies.

And you can buy an iFollow audio pass at 45 squid for something that is currently supplied free by the club - GO GO iFollow

That's strange. I've pressed the "Buy video pass" link several times now, and it just takes me through to their monthly and annual audio passes. Just as it does with the "Buy audio pass".

Are you 100% sure that you're getting the option to buy a video pass?

This is what pressing it takes me to.

Are you suggesting clubs like Barrow, Accrington Stanley and hell even the mighty Scabsville are losing money even with their paltry attendances and fanbase.

How do expect to develop the international fanbase if fans from abroad can watch any EFL team apart from Chesterfield?

Its pathetic how some people white knight for the club.

Just my opinion. I may well be well off the mark.

Of course it does, you are based in the UK using a UK IP address. Try using a vpn or be based abroad and you get the respective options for your location.

Be in Holland and you can pay 210 Euros happily by following the link.

Sorry for repeating myself but as you are; they probably make a bit of money on domestic audio streaming (at 45 squid a pop) where ours is free. On some of the bigger club's bespoke streaming service they even seem to charge for interviews and features.

Every EFL club? Might be mistaken but I can't see anything for Notts County?

Building am international fanbase

Nice if we had something though, but not something that's loss making or subsidised by making something that's free to all, chargeable

Considering the quality of the commentary on 1866 it's overpriced for free. It is handy if I want to know where Tooley has been on holiday though.

The lack of streaming options shows that club doesn't care about fans that aren't in the immediate vicinity of the ground. It's the same with the club being incapable of dealing with anything without having to visit or ring.

Almost agree with you but imagine if we had to pay 45 squid under your plans :o

Oh here we go again and here is me thinking you were concerned about international audiences  same old, same old [and repeat]
