Reminded me of the WBA game early doors - higher league tempo and quality threatening to dismantle us.

But thanks to Boot - the one big positive - we held on before making inroads of our own.

Though without troubling their 'keeper.

Second half Premier League players gave us a runaround.

No embarrassment in that.

Mandeville is wasted as a second choice RB. He offers far more going forward. Need another option there.

The arguments over Quigley will always persist. Gotta love his work rate but we really ought to be looking for a better 'Plan B' now.

Other than that no revelations either way.

PS: geography clearly not a strong point amongst Forest fans who seemed to think they were playing Derby...

Impossible to judge any players or positions etc today. Mandy got run ragged at right back but so would any l2 defender against Hudson odoi. Quigley had about 2 touches but so did grigg such was forests dominance. Would Mandy have done more further forward I doubt it. Let?s judge players, systems, coaching etc against like for like?.definitely not on today

It was always going to be an embarrassing match for us with the money and quality at Forest.
Fortunately Boot kept it to 3 but it was more to see how our defence coped, and which players adapted to higher skilled opposition and which didn't.

I thought it was a good work out and pleased to see Cook try different formations. Our finishing 11 was nowhere near as strong as our starting 11 but, nevertheless, we saw 21 players out of our outfield squad of 22 with Hobson missing out.

Felt we looked better with the 3 at the back after Cook moved Naylor. Oldaker did well. Madden and Grigg hardly got into the game. Dobra ran his socks off without getting much joy. Akinola hardly got a touch of the ball. Similarly, both Berry and Colclough struggled to have much impact. Palmer did ok at LCB so perhaps he could be the cover for Grimes. Gordon & Sheckleford both looked better after the change to a back 3. The supply to Quigley was no better than that to either Grigg or Madden so it was difficult to judge our forward threat.

Boot was excellent but, obviously, we need another keeper as we do a RB.

Got done foe pace and position, but so did they all. I thought we had a decent spell last 20 minutes of he first half, after the defence had sussed out the pace Forest were playing at. First 20 minutes it looked like being a massacre.

Watching the highlights (i didn't go to the game) regarding Boot's performance, it just shows what a quality keeper he is.
What was the rest of his game like?
I'd have no problem at all Ryan Boot in the No1 position from what I saw.
From the games he played last season, I can't remember any mistakes by him.
Even the goals yesterday, you'd pin on defence positioning (I know they're a Prem team blah blah blah) and the keeper having little to no chance.
I'd say if he keeps up performance levels like that, is it worth chasing Tyrer?
If Tyrer was to come back, I think Boot may feel a little hard done by.

The fact we?ve not signed a second keeper yet suggests potentially tyrer is a done deal and it?s just waiting for Pickford to go back from the euros so he can be released back out. While tyrer is not likely to be needed for any match action there any time soon he could well be helping out numbers wise in training.

Or the Tyrer deal is dead, they're giving Boot a decent preseason and will pick up a young keeper on loan / a seasoned No2 to sit on bench.

No need for Tyrer in my opinion. Boot demonstrated his quality yesterday, as he did when picked last season. Bring in a young, promising number 2. Must be one available somewhere locally.

Boot is a solid keeper, and each time he's been picked he's not let us down, so whether he ends up on the bench or as our first choice keeper, we have someone we can rely on.

Cook normally likes to have the main positions sorted in advance so I can?t see him leaving it late for keeper cover especially when in reality we can?t sign folk all season to March time like last season. I suspect they know what is happening with the position.
