Hard to say, but possibly because a more confident team will play less defensively, leaving more space for his runs, twists and turns etc. An example is his brilliant Wembley goal, when he really exploited the time and space given him, though, of course there's more room on the Wembley pitch anyway.

Marginally more room, SMH Stadium pitch dimensions 112 yards by 74 yards, Wembley 115 yards by 75 yards.

Irrelevant of what your average fan thinks, cookie preaches (and is usually screaming from the touching) PATIENCE!!! So yes we might have had chances to get early crosses in, but with one striker (who's hardly prolific with his head), usually up against 2/3 taller centre halves you can see why cookie hates it and doesn't want us doing it.

The record speaks for itself so criticising the tactic is a bit of a head-scratcher.

I’ve just read the comments on what I said and I’m a bit bemused that it’s been taken as criticism. Some folk on here are just a bit too sensitive methinks

Always good to start my match day experience with being shouted at by a CFC steward for being in the wrong queue.

Their fans on Twitter seem to think they have a strong side today and a chance of an upset.

These go to eleven.

Bit harsh on King, especially not even on the bench

And we wait to hear from Walton. Doubtless unless Southend equalise or take the lead we won't.

Quite even bar the wonder strike. Jacobs playing as if he’s in energy preservation mode.
These go to eleven.

Think Southend have looked pretty good, we're back on top now but don't feel massively comfortable with only a 1 goal lead

He was too pedestrian last season and too often passed backwards . This season he’s been braver in passing forwards and has been among our better performers today, with Naylor.
These go to eleven.
