I sometimes think in reality they can’t tire, because half the time the opposition just sit back and watch us switch play from one side to another and back again. There’s little chasing going on.
Half in jest, do they just become bored trying to concentrate on keeping shape, and eventually switch off when a more incisive move comes along?

Think it’s part tired part concentration….hard to sit in, keeping the shape, watching all the runs, watching for the pass etc for the full 90mins. It’s not so much full on chasing but continually shifting across the pitch etc.

i would happily take a point today. these are a good side with a good defensive record. there is no shame whatsoever picking a point up, keeping the total ticking over. need to keep it tight, not give away silly possession and make sure one of the two full backs sits whilst the other goes forward. much like Altringham, these are not to be sniffed at.

I think shecks back in. I do rate King but defensively gets found out.

Southend are on a post takeover high and their players, already encouraged by beating us once, will join every other we meet in wanting to make a name for themselves at our expense.

But 'Bobby Darling' is right - we must stick to our proven patience.

I just hope we've a ref' who'll allow that...

Yes Chris no easy games that's for sure
Just hope I'm not going to jinx us first game for a long time for me but I've been streaming most of the games so I'm into it like the AC days
Got to say I think we're could be on to something good but it's Town....

Which means if Dobra starts he can't be constantly losing possession when we have men forward and exposing us.

Crowd for tomorrow looks pretty good to me.... Looks like a lot been sold last couple days! Kop sold out.... West stand more or less sold out apart from 180 ish left in W7. Not many tickets left at all in East Stand. Bout 200 left in North stand.

Looks like 350 in the North stand and 80 or so elsewhere.
Now 349. I reckon bordering on sell-out of those tickets left plus the spare North block.
9500?

Huge exaggeration. When Dobra loses possession he is extremely quick to track back and hold up the opposition. He starts every single game, fitness permitting, for me, because he is one of the few players we have who will always run at opponents. IMO the suggestion that Berry starts in that position instead of Dobra is just daft. Berry has shown clearly that, at the moment, he is far more effective coming on as a sub, and far more effective in a wide left position. I know Dobra has yet to hit his best form consistently this season, but he still draws in two or even three defenders, creating space for others to run into, and I have a feeling he might go on a good goalscoring run between now and the end of the season. It's quite noticeable that Dobra seems to be more effective against better opposition, so maybe that will show today.

Re, your last sentence, why do you think that is?

Im not sure why anybody would be happy for a point,we are absolute certainties to win the league i want to win every game and i belueve its doable.I could never be happy with a point with our squad
ITS NOT THE WINNING,ITS THE TAKING APART

Seems we've signed a Michael James, number 10 according to the centre of the programme

Southend seem to be a set piece team by the looks of it. They did us this way at their ground, and I think they will use the same tactic today. If we run at them and keep possession in midfield I can’t envisage them holding out all game.

Hard to say, but possibly because a more confident team will play less defensively, leaving more space for his runs, twists and turns etc. An example is his brilliant Wembley goal, when he really exploited the time and space given him, though, of course there's more room on the Wembley pitch anyway.

We undid us at their place. A misplaced pass, along with a goal keeping error, and a gift of a penalty did for us. There’s no better team than us for set pieces- whether it’s corners or free kicks.
