As stated elsewhere, he's not figured for the last 6 weeks or so. Plus, he'd be here next season, not this (and I'd imagine the one after if he got what he wanted contract-wise). Doesn't really fit our profile.

It might not fit “our profile” but having spoken to a couple of folk who know him personally, there is 100% interest on both sides. One of whom I spoken to says he is comfortably quicker than both Grimes & Williams, even at 36 years of age.

And he’s played regularly in the Championship, bizarre some on here would turn their noses up at that.

He’s fell out with Robins by all accounts which coincided with him not featuring in side, could be a Jan option not an end of season option?

Given our position, on incomings Cook will be thinking in terms of the minimum he needs to do to maintain team spirit but guarantee promotion. That certainly won’t be achieved by dropping his captain. On the other hand, we are exposed if Grimes gets injured. If a 36 year old Deedah gets paid up by his club and then accepts an offer to be on standby with us with a champion’s bonus to come, then it’s a good plan.

We know how Cook likes his balance in central defence, McFadzean has always played on the left yet is right footed.
