His brother confirmed he’d been in touch with the club a couple of months ago, presumably we weren’t interested or maybe we did “run the rule” over him and decided against offering him something.

Given the state of the balance sheet and the fact we have 2, arguably now 3 right backs in the squad, Cookie would have a hard sell to the board to convince them to stretch the already tight funds even more for someone who would presumably command one of the highest wages in the squad.

In that case at least we will have made a considered decision, which is fine.

If rumour's are correct his wage request was rather higher than we were prepared to pay? Rumours and gossip eh?

I’m going to Macedonia with his brother next week I’ll get the low down 😂

No. It probably implies we’ve used the FA Cup money to move him on.

Got to think we are doing well budget wise this year.

And for what it’s worth I wouldn’t want them to spend rthe extra

No way Will the club have budgeted for 3 extra home cups games, A home attendance averaging north of 7k and a potential sell out vs Barnet?

We will have paid Rowe and Asante less than if they would have stayed all season.

Rowe & Asante held out for every single penny trust me otherwise would have gone months ago
We only save a little on the NI and pension/ insurance contributions

Whatever their previous contribution it’s got to be financially better going forward let’s face it.

Comes on a football message board talking about pension contributions hahaha

What kind if scheme do you think they run defined benefit or defined contribution?

Yes, it might be cash up front for him but the Club have got to have made a saving compared to continuing to pay him his due salary until the end of his contract otherwise it makes absolutely no sense cash flow wise.

As such, the expected playing budget/outlay will have been reduced by that saving.

Similarly, there will be such a saving regarding Danny Rowe.

However, the sum of said savings will not necessarily add up to the cost of bringing another player in.

Let’s say Maguires loan gets extended @ Crawley and the attendance stay up like they are now (avg 7.5k) who would we like to see be brought in January to give us that post Christmas boost?

Depends who leaves I guess?

Is Freckleton here for the season? If not, he’ll need replacing if he goes back.

That said, I don’t want us spaffing all the extra gate receipt income on this season, it’s that type of reckless spending that helped get us in this mess in the first place.

Clearly if a player comes up who PC thinks will strengthen us then I’m sure hell be knocking on the Kirk’s door but at the minute I can see where we need reinforcements.

One thing is for sure, Cookie will already be planning for next summer.

A left sided CM with Jones's brain, to share duties. Don't know one though.

Don't we have while March to delve into the transfer market? I can't see any reason to bring someone in unless it's really necessary. The other reason I can think of is if it directly weakens our nearest rival.

Yep no deadline until towards the end of March. With the squad as it is I see no reason to bring anyone in unless someone becomes available that’s a no brainer. Should we get a lengthy injury or alike then yes we could look to bring someone in but not needed currently.

If we do go up, I could well see Morsy coming in to replace Jones next season.

I would think Sam has an eye on a season in the Premier League next year.
