at the end of the game was really heartened to see king on the pitch with grimes and joining in with the kop singing to jamie grimes, he also pointed at the badge and fist pumped, when danny webb says they are all in it together, images like this really back it up. king looked delighted for HIS team to win that today, he will play his part this season yet, of that i've no doubt.

Not seen that so that’s great to hear. He could have easily sulked after today but to hear that sends him up even further in the estimations. Good man Kingy.

Thanks for the info. All for democracy but that was probably in relation to the away drummer being in the South stand. I don’t have a problem with that. It’s when the away fans are in the East stand. Needs revisiting

Give over
I sit back row east central no problem with drums in the North South or in our East stand
Brings a great atmosphere to the game

Bring earmuffs if it bothers you that much lol 😂

Yes, I know

But we didn’t play our usual game, passim teams to death. We closed down space and went far more direct. Very different game plan. That is a tactical change
A new hope.

Best cup quality I've seen since we beat Scunthorpe 2 nil in, I think, 2015.

Best I've seen Mandeville play. If I hadn't witnessed it with my own eyes I'd never have believed that such an improvement was possible. Shows waht I know. This was a guy that couldn't run, couldn't use his left foot, couldn't tackle, and miscued his shots and headers. Except on the odd occasion when a ray of talent shone through to force a 'there's a player in there somewhere' observation. The transformation into a top RB is astounding.

A few words of praise also to the North West corner who made a hell of a racket, and to the groundsman who somehow managed to get the grass cut and looking immaculate despite the weather.

All in all, a day to remember.

You're right, Dave.

Though one or two in there might not appreciate it (one bloke kept complaining about standing punters blocking his view) it's gotta be a real asset having so much support from W7...

I was really hoping Jeff got on today and felt for him when he didn't. Great that he joined in with the celebrations. I think something has gone off here, he's bit fit all season but has hardly featured. Nothing against Shecks but I can't recall him ever giving an assist for a goal let alone score one and would question if someone claimed he was a better defender.

An enjoyable afternoon.

I've been thinking about Paul Cook for a bit now. I told John Croot at the time that it was a masterstroke getting Cookie to come back to the club and it became obvious from early on that our future success was very much dependent on the club holding his interest. He's a leader, he knows how to shape a club on and off the pitch and he's the glue that keeps it all together. His style makes it easy to support the club and easy for the board of directors (although they might disagree)!

I'm unsure what sort of agreement Paul has with the club but let us all hope that it continues for many years to come.

As someone who's experienced far too many metaphorical kicks in the knackers over four plus decades following Town, folk will have to forgive my generation's negativity.

But yeah, the thought of how much focus will be falling upon our manager is like a cloud on the horizon of our current success.

Let's look at it logically, though. It'd surely have to be a Championship sized outfit to turn his head - and you'd also think there're bosses doing well at EFL clubs they'd look at first. Then Cook's previous suggests he left ourselves, Pompey and Wigan because of off-field issues. Allen's intent to dismantle, Pompey's takeover and Wigan's administration.

Most of all he'd be throwing away two years building at a CFC where he's held in high regard by fans and backed by the Board. A CFC progressing towards a goal which, if achieved, would only elevate the likeable Scouser's standing within the game.

Yes we've had our grumbles and gripes with PC in the past. His teams HAVE had a tendency to overplay at times. However all but a handfull of malcontents pursuing perverse agendas recognise its a small price to pay against the greater good.

Football's a fickle business. No one can be blamed for accepting opportunities too attractive to turn down. No one. That said I hope and believe Paul Cook is wise enough to understand winning a second promotion for Town is the greatest opportunity of all*...

Drums are ok, that chuffing bell going all the game is annoying, imagine shelling out your hard earned cash for a long away day and have that sat behind you all game, would do my nut in.

I understand he isn't a decent human being either.

King's 'problem' is he's neither a full back nor winger.

Though he can perform well at both.

Having Mandeville - who could probably deliver a regular 'eight' every week in pretty much most positions - at RB is a double whammy, too. He's solid enough in defence and can also support attacks. Is Sheckleford a stronger defender as well?

Debateable.

JK is a valuable squad member, however there're players doing well in a successful side in front of him...

Could drive you mad.
As told by many a doctor- I wonder how many of their supporters end up at their GP’s surgery.
What’s the problem?
“I think Ive got tittiness”

Think it’s time for the club to get behind W7 as a concept and make it work. It’s clear for the bigger games people want to go there and stand, it creates a much better atmosphere at that end of the stadium and the support is generally positive.

I know for some games they’ve attempted to stop people buying tickets there, blocking them out for sale online and what not. They should embrace it, getting tickets together on the Kop, or even individual tickets near the back of the Kop isn’t possible nowadays due to the amount of ST holders we have so we should openly encourage it at an alternative place for non ST holders who want to create an atmosphere to go

Been banned more than once by Portsmouth for various things, the last one for deciding to go in the ladies toilets and acting like an idiot claiming to identify as female. Think views on him by other pompey fans is definitely mixed.

Found myself a few rows in front of him on the top deck of the Stretford End for Eng 0 Macedonia 0 in October 2006. Extremely irritating, as was the football.

Putting 2 and 2 together I'm guessing that, on paper, Cook's contract is up at the end of the season. We are heading for a crucial period in which the Kirk bothers will need to demonstrate that their professionalism has transformed the Board. They have to get the planning and controls tight and right. Whether it's structural change, consolidation, financial speculation, whatever, it has to be spot on. I have every confidence that it will be.

One way to keep Cooky might be to give him more responsibility.

I would like to think that Paul Cook coming back to us has put a smile back on his face because clearly his experience at Ipswich and losing his father had a big impact on him. I would also like to think that he's at a stage in his career where he can pick and choose what he does and recognises that being happy is priceless.

I'm not bothered about a bigger club expressing an interest in his services. For me, it's more about what we do.

What a position to be in as we are normally pushing managers out of the door!

Used to work with loads of Pompey fans, some disliked him, others hated him. Had a clique around that nobody was partial to as well.

Probably quite well off as his business thrived due to the publicity. Noticed the never showed him on TV, perhaps the media are just tired of him

Think you’ve made 22 there. The mood music is the opposite to me not that that means buggar all and are you sure he wants more responsibility? He seems to be get the money for the players he wants and is left alone to pick and coach the team with little interference.

It wouldn't be the first time.
I have no idea what Cook's long term ambitions are, though I hope the Kirks have.
My suggestion is based on the fact that I still have an uneasy feeling that there's a gap in the structure between CFC Manager and Trust CEO.

Cook is a football man, i think he just wants to get on with managing the team and get some backing when they identify a player they want to bring in. I'm not sure he's the type to move upstairs as such.

Drums are more than OK, and if it is your choice to sit in a designated area for a drum that's fine - the choice is yours -but its not fine when you buy a season ticket and then have a drum plonked within yards of you as happened recently in the East stand.

Back to football - because we shouldn't be talking about a petty issue that is easily sorted - fantastic atmosphere and memorable game yesterday , and no deafening drum in my ear.
