Not surprised to see this morning that we've signed Samit Patel after he left Notts.

I'm not completely against the signing, i cant see him playing much red ball cricket and is still a useful player in white ball games. His experience will be useful to younger players as well. Think he still featured for Notts and their 100 side a fair bit last season.

At least we aren't having to pay him to move house.

Ross Whiteley returns....on paper we are building a half decent white ball side with him, Patel, Pat Brown etc.

Starting to build an interesting squad, with an emphasis on the white ball stuff. Renewed my membership for 2024 so hopefully will feel I have reason to use it more.

Just watched Derbyshire thrash Notts by 96 runs and must say they were superb. First time in a limited overs match since 2015. We have some good players now and we look really competitive. Some superb performances.

Come on you Derbs.

I didn't go (membership this season still unused). Intended to but was knackered and couldn't rouse myself to drive down.

An astonishing win for Derbyshire in the 50 over cup yesterday

chasing 236 to win at northampton the fat lady had just about finished her song when they were 79 for 7

but a stand of 131 for the 8th wicket between whiteley and chappell saw them to the brink of victory

chappell finished 94 not out and saw them to victory 8 balls to spare

apparantley that 8th wicket stand is only 21 short of the world record 50 over 8th wicket stand for
every 50 over competition since the various competitions started

Lets see if they can follow it up now at home to middlesex on saturday

Hopefully not something that many counties are going to do but seems Leicestershire are moving away from the free online coverage on youtube to a paid service.

T20 with free stuff to members im sort of ok with. Not sure about charging for everything, what?s good about the current setup is just being able to pop it on for a bit here and there with championship games etc. I sometimes pop it on at work while having lunch etc. I wouldn?t be doing that if I needed to pay for access.

Another brilliant win today, was looking done but Lloyd and Dal got us back in it then Moore to get us over the line is brilliant for someone so young.

Tom Moore was outstanding with the bat to steer us home at the end

i thought he was hung out to dry with his bowling when patel put him back on just as somerset were looking to press on with the usual wickets in hand against Derbyshire

Not quite sure what Patel is bringing to the table at the moment because its certainly not because of his captaincy that we have got out of jail twice in the 50 overs cup

I watched it. I thought Derbyshire were dead and buried at 90-5 and again when Chappell was out. They showed great mental strength to win. Hampshire next. Always a difficult one.

Derbyshire have finally won a 4 day County Championship match at home for the first time in 1803 days or 5 years in old money lol

They beat Glamorgan by 10 wickets just before lunch yesterday wanting just 27 for victory

Its not quite Queen Victoria was still on the throne when we last won at home but it B***dy feels like it lol

It is I think a little late to push for promotion this season though
