I couldn’t agree more. We have an unbelievably talented group of players and that was before the signings of Grigg and Naylor. When did Charlie Raglan become such a good player? I must have missed that.

Raglan once played for us- over 6 years ago. That makes him a must signing, apparently.

And in those 6 years he's played a tier or two tiers higher than us, Raglan is a good signing for a national league club and it's delusional to suggest otherwise.

I know, a lot of people won’t even remember him.

We used to say the same thing in league 1 and 2 pal.

Id invest in youth even if we’d won at Wembley.

Remember Roy Macfarland, he had buttons to play with and kept us in league 1 finding talent like Caleb Folan, Jamie Macmaster, etc, and he knew how to develop talent, coaches can still do that these days, it’s all spend, spend, spend and it’s getting out of proportion.

Let’s see what Cook can do with youth, let’s see if he can make a silk purse out of a sows ear. Let’s see what he can do with 16/17 year olds, keen to learn and develop. Id rather have a hungry young player with some pride in the shirt not some Mr Big Shot who thinks he’s better than the club because he’s able to hold us to random, really are we that desperate that we have to compete with the likes of Oldham, if they want to pay silly money for a bang average player then let em.

Jamie McMaster?? I think he played about a dozen times for us. Not sure that his talent was developed. I remember Lee Richardson doing a whip round to create some cash to pay him. Same agent as Will Grigg though.

It’s a decent signing for our level, but why is he now taking them to the title?

Who said that? Them going for it and them achieving it are two separate things, I still feel the signings we've made so far are better and we have a much better manager.

60 games for Cheltenham in the last 2 seasons with 50ish of them in League One. Still only 30. He will be very decent at this level.

Yes he will be decent but no more no less I feel

They could have got better in this league

Confident there'll be a happy ending.

Chairman Mr Hubbard arranged a similar deal for Paul Warhurst but I weren’t keen on him and you’re right about Rico playing a big part in the deal, he’s also a perfect candidate when it comes to developing talent.

As for McMaster; Jamie was a huge talent, unfortunately he’d been in legal trouble earlier in his career and it took a downward spiral but Big Mac got a few decent games out of him. I can’t remember which game it was he put the finishing touch to a move involving around 15 passes from back to front, amazing goal, hazy memory, away game I think, white away shirt, played like Real Madrid that day, amazing goal, if anyone can post a YouTube clip I’d like to see it again.

I admire your knowledge though pal. Wouldn’t have had a clue he shared Griggs agent.
Let me in!

I’ve been told Ibe did leave Portugal early, but not because of his fitness and certainly not because of his footballing ability. More to do with his battle with mental health. But cook is apparently desperate for him to sign as he was head and shoulders above everyone else.

He was a heck of young player - if cookie can get his arm round him and help him sort his problems out he would be one heck of a signing for us.
A new hope.

I’d be more stressed if we were paying em too much.

Personally I’d invest more in the youth set up rather than trying to outbid our rivals on wages for (let’s face it) non league standard players.

We were in league 1 not long ago, now we’re stressing about an average player going to Oldham, just because they’ve offered him a few grand more.

Let the rivals bankrupt themselves, let’s get scouts into the even lower leagues and find players that way instead of non league mercenaries acting like big time Charlie’s.

Let’s also send scouts round local schools, amateur football, etc (proper scouting system) bring the best players into the club at a young age and get some pride in the badge again, have players who love the club and not the wage packet, tie them to long term contracts. Obviously they’ll leave at some point but we’ll pick up plenty in transfer fees and we won’t begrudge them a big move.

Fact is Dallas is farting the club around, takin the wotsit. Is he really bigger than CFC because he obviously thinks he is and if he’s after yet more money then let Oldham have him.

Regarding bringing youth through it's pure fantasy
ITS NOT THE WINNING,ITS THE TAKING APART

That goal was Peterborough away wasn’t it? I was there and seem to remember him scoring a cracking goal there.

Scored two for us, home to QPR and away at Peterborough. Think the Peterborough one is the one you are referring to but I can only find a video of the first one at home to QPR in a 4-2 win which was also a cracking finish.

Does anyone remember Jamie Burt? Someone else who had a bit of potential but plenty of off-field problems.
