Sad that people have been abusing Walden, no one deserves that

See he has doubled down on his info though stating we wouldn’t pay what was agreed for Cal Roberts - I find this to be very doubtful and doubt we were ever seriously in for him!

Gossip is fun but the desire to appear in the know by firing out as many rumours as possible and hoping some turn out to be true is just sad, hopefully Walden and other professional journalists will learn from this and post appropriately

Yeah I find that incredibly hard to believe. Why us let alone anyone would agree a fee for a player they want and then decide na we’ll not bother is just unrealistic.

I'd imagine it happens, a lot, for various reasons!

Also, don't assume it didn't get done due to our doing, maybe they offered him a better deal/guaranteed him first team football, maybe h picked them over us as its nearer his native North East.

If a player is under contract then you should agree a fee with their current club, before entering negotiations with the plyer, at which point then you might decide a deal isn't possible for a variety of reasons.

We've had it the opposite way too, for instance when we accepted an offer from Barnsley for Jamie Ward, he couldn't agree personal terms so the deal fell though, and he went to Shef Utd for a smaller fee, a few days later.

Could agree a fee but not personal terms when Roberts says what he wants potentially based on what Scunny are offering him.

Double edged sword situation. We will have had a couple of irons in different fires (Grigg, Roberts etc) so you arent left with nothing if one falls through. I dont doubt that Roberts talks were there, imagine its more of a case that we looked at what we actually needed (wisely) and decided to spend the funds elsewhere. North based or not, nobody can convince me someone would pick Scunthorpe over us, its hardly Saudi money...and well, its Scunthorpe

Professional journalists don't report that deals have been 100% completed and are signing today or tomorrow, 2 weeks before the deal has actually been completed.
Professional journalists also don't delete their posts claiming the deals have 100% been done and are being announced today or tomorrow.

No one should get abused for posting wrong or inaccurate content, but they should expect to be called out on it and own it rather than deleting posts.

If you noticed 2 professional journalists did it the right way, Paul Fisher and Liam Norcliffe.

Latest whisper from over the Mutton beer garden fence is Luke Waterfall has been told he’s free to find a new club, as Grimsby have brought in a new CB. Cook has made initial contact but it would depend on moving a CB out, namely Maguire.

Check back next year for the new annual Waterfall rumour

Don’t know if this has been mentioned before (and haven’t got the will power to look back through 70 odd pages), but been told today by a very good friend of him that we are very close to agreeing with Luke Waterfall from Grimsby.
Lives in Sheffield and wants less of a commute.

Edit: just saw the post above posted as I was typing it!! 😂

Waterfall would be a random one - Would think if another CB was coming in it would be a left footer unless Williams or Palmer are on their way. Dont rate Waterfall above either of those two personally

If that’s true it won’t be happening as Maguire has refused a few offers when we tried to offload before

Waterfall doesn't bother me too much, never looked great with his feet or much of an athlete - just a right footed Jamie Grimes?

Yeah that’s correct. Apologies I’ve worded it terribly but he’s labelled it on twitter as we decided to not pay what we’d already agreed. That’s the bit that makes no sense.

If we are after a CB, needs to be a younger/athletic type of player to compliment Grimes/Palmer. Think Waterfall would be more of what we already have if I am honest.
